Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked this hotel a little nervously after reading many negative reviews, but it was a good price for a room with a balcony. Fortunately, I’m very happy with my choice.

Chinatown is a fabulous location and this spot is great - overlooking some beautiful, colourful architecture and surrounded by bars and restaurants. Yes it’s a little noisy, but you sign up for that when you choose this location.

My room is large by Singapore standards, modern, mostly clean (bathroom door could do with a good scrub/bleach), bed is firm but comfortable, wifi and aircon are strong. And the balcony is a fantastic spot to sit with a drink and watch the world go by. The wet bathroom doesn’t bother me.

They lose marks for no tv remote, no ability to make phone calls (you have to go downstairs and use the reception phone), and not overly friendly staff (the night receptionist is particularly unfriendly).

I would definitely stay again.

It's very true what they say "you get what you pay for" especially in this case. The rooms are very small, not overly clean, beds are uncomfortable and there is no disabled access throughout the hotel. However there are lots of positives with this hotel too. It's a great central base for exploring Singapore, not expensive for the area and surrounded by lots of lovely bars and restaurants. For the win though Nana is undoubtedly the best thing about this hotel. I've travelled solo all around the world and being partially disabled it can be difficult at times. Nana couldn't do enough to help me and make sure that I had a great time in Singapore with as little stress as possible. I cannot thank her enough, what a wonderful staff member to have!

While this hotel is at the budget end of the pricing the place is nice. The rooms are small but perfectly ok. The staff are excellent.

It is a short walk to 2 MRT stations and a few different hawker stalls nearby.

Avoid the bars nearby they are expensive and not great.

Would stay again.

Stayed in Room 118, a L Room without Window.

PROS: Booked a "M Room without Window," but the staff upgraded us to the bigger "L Room" so we could be next to our family member staying in a "S Room without Window." The room was clean and spacious (please note: our room was an accessible room). As such, our bathroom was huge and water from the shower did not flood the entire bathroom even though the shower, sink, and toilet were all in the same space with no separation. Both the Wifi and air conditioning were strong. The staff also held our luggage after check-out.

CONS: The hot water in the shower slowly fades away until it becomes room temperature. The free bottled water provided are 310mL, not a full bottle. Each device requires a unique code to access the Internet, but they only give one code per guest at check-in. However, you can ask for another code! Only hand soap provided; no shampoo or body wash. The 100 SGD deposit returned upon check-out was very hard to use up on our last day in Singapore.

Located right smacked in the middle of keong siak Road, lotsa restaurants and bars around the area. Would recommend for that.
But ammenities wise, not the best. The bath towels were all torn and tattered, looking worse than my floor mats at home. Bed wasn't comfy. But it's an inexpensive place, so can't expect much.

Stayed at the ButternutTree hotel in Singapore for 3 nights. Booked a twin room for my sister and I, although it was small it had all we needed to use as a base for our stay! Staff were amazing, so friendly and genuinely interested in what we were up to and what we had done for the day. The bathroom was more a ‘wet’ room so water was everywhere after having a shower, but didn’t bother us. ‘Maxwell’ MRT station was only a short 5 minute walk. Chinatown and Outram Park no more than a 10 min walk. Would definitely stay here again!

If you're expecting a hotel with all the amenities, this isn't it. This is a boutique hotel located right at the heart of Chinatown. If you're the type to only need a room for a place to sleep in, this is a great option as it's near the Train stations. Directly outside is also a street full of restaurants, and the famous Chinatown Hawker Center is just a 3 minute walk away. I recommend this for those who want to explore Singapore to the fullest.

As for the rooms themselves, they're serviceable at best. They're small, but that's expected for a country like Singapore where space is a premium.

Very clean room and hotel situated in the vibrant Chinatown district of Singapore. Good value for money with friendly staff and all essential amenities. Stayed here twice whilst transiting from Europe to Australia and enjoyed both stays. Perfect for solo travelers or couples, reception is operating 24/7 and any extra needs such as more toilet roll or towels are immediately accommodated. Fabulous air conditioning in reception and all rooms, nice communal area to relax with vending machines and good Wi-Fi signal.

the front office person was the rudest i ever met- snapped at me to use my phone for wake up call. room much much smaller than normal- even by singapore standards- wasnt even enough space in the room to lay out a carry on sized suitcase on the floor. from bed to wall was was less than 45 cm.

would add a photo but seeing such a photo would bring up such bad memories i would start crying again.

Not a very pleasant experience. Room was good and clean. Toilet had no glass barrier for shower area which meant when you shower the floor gets very wet. Tv is also very small and no mini fridge or chiller in room. Room service not able to provide wine corkscrew which surprised me.

You'll need a credit card to pay for a room deposit - this is the standard "pre-authorisation" which was SGD100 for us for one night. It may be more for more nights but check on arrival. Be aware that there are no incidentals to speak of. No mini bar etc. This is an extremely basic hotel. Enjoy your trip!

If you are 4..dont choose park 22 hotel, too small and old.. I suggest fragrance pearl at geylang..that is quiet and clean hotel..the room also big.. near to cheap supermarket, near to street food.. and 10 minutes walk to train..
