We spent 4 nights at the Joglo Plawang. We had reviewed Trip Advisor and knew there could be some hit and miss, but overall, more miss than hit. The good: Beautiful property in terms of landscape, rooms, layout Interesting use of traditional Javanese materials, felt very "fancy local" Friendly staff Spacious rooms (we stayed in the Royal Villa) Very sweet... its quite way out of town, about 35 mins and would be a hassle to go out at night. the deluxe rooms and villas are on the same site as the main lobby, the restaurant is across the road but the standard rooms is quite a walk at about 350-400 metres away. Not to worry though as the Hotel's Avanza... More

It was early December 2011, wet season in central Java most afternoons, but that only made the vacation "Kool" ! Joglo Plawang is the perfect escape for someone who wants peace and quiet amidst tradions of the local people. And you experience it the moment you step into the gentle surrounds filled with classic Javanese architecture and charm- that also... More

The hotel is located half an hour from the city, not very convenient for night life, but can avoid terrible traffic in downtown when you go to Borobudur and other places of interest. The traditional deco is quite nice. Staff are extremely friendly. The standard rooms are very far from the main mansion, although they do provide 24 hours guard... More

Visiting the site on the new year's eve day. we chose the villa because of its considerate price and location (secluded area away from the hustle and bustle of the city). The place was within our imagination, with nice details of a joglo house, friendly staffs and beautiful scenery. The only setbacks were 1)the foods they served on the new... More

The Joglo Plawang made our holiday to Java totally worthwhile. This hotel is for the discerning traveller who can appreciate traditional Javanese interior decoration and authentic Javanese cuisine. The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Yogyakarta but is easily accessible by a taxi (arrange it yourself and the journey is not expensive). The staff are mild-mannered and don't appear... More

Food...Should try the Indonesian meal. Its sumptuous! Location of the hotel is a bit far away from the city area..but its a great hideaway esp for someone like me who... More

hotel was nice with traditional javanese interior. the room rate includes free pick-up and drop-off to the airport or city center. the standard rooms are situated in the same building as the main lobby while the villas and the pool is located next to the complex, separated by a 2 meters alley. they only have 1 restaurant which is located... Our group of four had two twin deluxe rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean and tastefully decorated. The staff was very helpful with organising our transportation from the station (off topic: avoid to take the train coming from Jakarta... you do get to see some of the country side, but the ride is just too long) and to the... Found it on a hotel booking site which says it is a five stars hotel. Well, from the outlook it doesn't seem/feel like a five stars. It is good, but not so great. The architecture is very Javanese, nice choices of furnitures too. But there was no shower curtain in my room (deluxe room). It is kinda funny, how could... More
