I stayed here with my family. They gave us a room with two twin beds, and nowhere for our daughter to sleep, so we had to upgrade to a bigger, more expensive room. Hotel is noisy and dirty, with lots of cigarette smoke, even on the nonsmoking floors. Could barely see out the windows, they were so dirty, People roam... More

Stayed here for a week on a tour of Beijing. Rooms were dated but clean, beds were uncomfortable--very hard--others in our group complained about beds as well. It took two days and multiple requests to get beds changed from twins to king size when it simply required putting beds together with a pad and remaking the bed. Breakfast buffet was... More

We stayed here for three nights beginning 3/1/12. The hotel is a little tired, was quite noisy at night, and there were lots of smokers in the non-smoking rooms around us. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding, with a good variety of east and west food choices. I think I would try a Marriott next time, if rates were... More

This was the first hotel we visited in China so I had some reservations, but I was pleasantly surprised. The value was well worth the stay. Yes - the bathroom was small and the beds were stiff. However, the hotel overall was elegant, clean, and welcoming with good ammenities, a great breakfast buffet, and good location for sight seeing. The... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in early September. The rooms are large with high ceilings; the bathroom was clean; beds comfortable, even though the pillows took some getting used to. The breakfast was adequate with many different selections. We found the area around the hotel interesting and it felt safe. For the price I thought it was good. More

This hotel claims to be one of the 5 best hotels in Beijing. I find it a slight exaggeration. In general the hotel is fine but only fine. It’s situated 30-minutes walk from the Tiananmen Square; the rooms are clean and comfy but I found them a bit depressing (there’s something sad about the colors); bathroom a bit old-fashioned but... I think you could do better. Rooms were basic. Bed VERY hard. Breakfast bland. The position is good to walk to downtown sites, so if you don't mind basic then go for it. More

Stayed at this hotel for part of a group travel trip. Attached to the Beijing Opera Company's building, the hotel is furnished with touches from the Opera. Rooms are fairly large, with very high ceilings (older building... nice touch). Beds are firm and the barley pillow is a treat (if you like heavy pillows). The rooms were well maintained and... More

The hotel is clean and affordable. The staff does not understand a bit of english however they advertise they do speak English - they don't! Taxis don't like to take you to the hotel so you end up needing to use the subway which is a 20-30 minute walk away from the hotel. More

Like so many hotels in China, this hotel looks great from the outside (and online) but has flaws on the inside. This hotel is an architecturally significant, old and charming hotel with a theme of the Beijing Opera - in fact there are performances there in the Liyuan Theatre which are worth seeing. The lobby is lovely and has a... More
