We stayed at this hotel at the start and end of our Travelshpere Discover China trip. Hotel was ok - we stayed in Block 3 which is around the corner from the Main Building Nr 1. The rooms were small and a little tired and in need of an update but when you are spending most of time out and... More

This famous and historic hotel is the largest gaden hotel complex in Asia. Built in the 1950s to welcome visiting foreigners and "expert" advisors this is a massive complex of buildings and conference facilities. The huge trees provide shade and a quiet park like atmosphere in the middle of the busy Haidian District which is a university and research area.... More

This is a nice hotel and is close to the subway station. Rooms were clean and staff friendly and helpful. The only problem was that the rooms were too hot. Outside it was about 70F during the day, lower at night but the room was over 80F most of the time. I went for business and it is a bit... More

I stayed for a week in a standard room in Building #2 at the Friendship Hotel in Beijing. Overall, the quality of the services was average at best. The room itself was spacious but kind of outdated; same about bathroom. Breakfast was limited (in choices) compared to other hotels I visited in Asia. Location is good, with easy access to... More

I was in Beijing visiting a number of major universities. I found this to be extremely convenient. Within easy walking distance of Renmin and a quick walk to the subway, on one of the more useful lines (very easy to get to Beida, Tsinghua and the Summer Palace, for example). I got a discount rate, which landed me in building... More

Just to add to the many detailed reviews of this hotel: if you are there at a conference, and jet-lagged beyond brain-function with nothing on offer at your conference coffee break but a cup of murky luke-warm chicory, then head over to Building 4 where there is a little coffee shop in the lobby that has a real espresso machine... I've stayed every year in Beijing Friendship hotel, but never in their 5-star faciility in Building 1, the main building of a very large complex. I usually stay in Building 3, which is more a 3- or 4-Star facility, but still very nice. Friendship usually has an international mix of guests (unlike some provincial hotels such as the Hunan Huatian... More

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a guilded tour of China. The hotel was located on a busy road opposite a huge shopping centre (if you want to cross the road, don't dice with death alone, either chain yourself to a local or walk slightly down the road and use the bridge) Because of the shopping centre... 16 Sep - 23 Sep, 2011 I picked Friendship Hotel for the stay, since the conference I was attending (International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition ICDAR 2011), was being held in the same hotel. This would be my first visit to China, and not knowing much about the country, its people, it transportation options, food and the like, I... More

I stayed in building one. The room was very spacious, and very comfortable. Great bed. Hotel is located across the street from the metro allowing easy access to the center of Beijing. It is also close to the Summer Palace, and the Bell Temple. Breakfast was bountiful and good. The available guided day tours of Beijing are excellent and are... More
