Pros: + The rooms are finished very well and have fantastic views of The Great Wall, on a clear day. + Cafe-style food was delicious, if a touch expensive. + Staff were always very friendly and polite. + A courtesy car is arranged to take you to the entrance of the Wall. You can then get one back to The... More

Gorgeous blue skies, delicious food, relaxing yoga and a wonderful overnight experience at the Great Wall! We just returned from a 24 hour stay - in the fresh air of Beijing. Who would have thought:) Cannot say enough......

First of all, I would like to say that we enjoyed the wonderful scenery around Brickyard. 1. Our room was fine with lovely views over the hills but may lack a bit of Chinese characteristic. 2. One of your English-speaking staff sounded so 'dragged out', bored, and unenthusiastic on the phone when I was trying to make a booking. I... More

My husband and I came into the Great Wall area hopeful for a retreat from the busy and polluted city. While the environment was definitely rustic, the stay was a little less than pleasurable. Pros: 1. Service and attitude of employees were great. Extremely courteous. 2. Free tea/coffee, soft drinks and snacks at the Lodge 3. Fresh air 4. Cute... More

I took my gf to celebrate her birthday and first time to the Great Wall. We had an absolutely wonderful experience and here's why: 1) Room and hotel courtyard are serene and peaceful. 2) Deluxe queen rooms face the Great Wall 3) Breakfast was simple and tasty 4) Hotel bused us to/from the Great Wall 5) Library corner is perfect... We spent a night at The Pavillion, a house/hotel that is part of the Brickyard. It has a large main bedroom in a renovated old house. Beautiful! Then there is another annex with a double bedroom, a kitchen, and a fire place with exceptional views of the Great Wall. Wow! Breathtaking. An added benefit is that there are fewer tourists... More

Bringing out of town guests to the Great Wall always included a visit to Mutianyu with a late lunch at the Schoolyard. I had heard about the Brickyard Retreat and read about it in a few magazines. I was expecting a converted bed and breakfast that blended into a village - a relaxing spot that would strive to excel and... More

Very friendly, family run place with amazing views of the great wall! We loved staying here with our two small kids and using it as a basis from which to explore the surroundings. It was nice to allow a little extra time because on the first two days we couldn't see a thing, then when the fog finally cleared we... More

Brickyard is very well located for enjoying the Great Wall at Matianyu. The shuttle to the Great Wall is extremely useful. The staffs are friendly. The room is clean and comfortable but the design is nothing to write home about. What I love the most about the place is the cozy fireplace and ultra comfy lounge chairs in the lobby... More
