I have traveled all over Africa, stayed in all of the most acclaimed camps, Richard's is at the very top of my list! My son and I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, and went from there straight into Richard's...our "tent" was so cozy, water bottles at our feet when we tucked in for the night, loved the bucket shower, everything about it... More

Richards camp has a rustic relaxed atmosphere- if you have ever envisaged the real africa (from story books) this is where you must stay. Equipped with wonderful hosts, hot and large (the largest bucket shower I have ever had) home cooked food, great wines, very comfortable beds, extremely spacious tents and your own privacy. Not only are you away from... More

My husband and I finished our Kenya safari with 4 nights at Richard's Camp in September 2011. It's a small camp in a private conservancy a bit removed from the Masai Mara National Park, but that proved to be a plus as the area was uncrowded and we had some wonderful wildlife sightings both near the camp and en route... Hi Sailgirl, Thank you so much for such an extensive and interesting review - this will be super useful for people wondering about whether to come and stay at Richard's Camp... As you say, four nights is the optimum, and for the beginning of 2012 (5th Jan - 30th June) we have a Stay for Four, Pay for Three deal... More

We ended our Kenya safari with four nights at Richard's Camp: coming off an extraordinary experience at Sirikoi (where we could have easily stayed for several more nights, we were curious what the new camp would be like. We generally like rustic camps and Richard's satisfied that sense of rustic, sleeping under canvas, with many small luxurious touches, including a... More

Hi Finem50 Thanks so much for your review - we are hugely impressed that you are trying your hand at Maa - it's a difficult language! But I'm sure with Leng by your side it was made a little easier? We're really glad you were able to put your trust in the guides; they are fantastic at Richard's Camp with... More

We spent 3 nights at Richards camp recently. First impressions were that it looked a bit basic and rustic. However the camp soon grew on us and we had a great time. While it is not technically in the Masai Mara it is in a conservation area that it relatively close. There is plenty of wildlife in the area. To... More

My daughter and I were in Richard's private camp as our original booking had been overtaken by a full camp booking. No doubt we benefited from this, as the private camp was just magical. Our guides - Leng and Sadera - were so skilled and and such good company, lots of laughs. They 'spotted' everything - for example 7 cheetahs,... More

Richard's Camp is a wonderful experience. Nestled in the woods, about 15 -20 minutes from the airstrip, you will find yourself in safari wonderland! There are no fences, gates or otherwise protections from the wildlife. This, in my opinion, is a real positive. At night, the distant roar of lions and hippos is something one cannot forget. My daughter and... More

We went in March is is low season and we had the safari camp to ourselves and got a good deal. It was like a our own private safari. The safari tours were fantastic as the Guides were excellent and were local masai, which was so interesting. The safari vehicles were open window for better viewing and the accommodation was... More

We ( myself and my two children aged 23 and 21) arrived at Richard's on my birthday and immediately we were welcomed like old friends. The staff were absolutely wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. We have been lucky enough to spend quite a bit of time in Africa previously and I can honestly say Richards was the best... More
