It is within half an hours walk of Luxor’s centre and main sites. The hotel was looking rather tired and shabby and some of the adjacent buildings appear derelict. The roof top swimming pool and relaxation area was rather nice and there are limited views to the Nile and Luxor. The breakfasts were small and uninteresting. The practical downside of... More

It was OK - I wouldn't stay again, although the staff seemed nice enough (even if I'm not convinced that pasta is a traditional Egyptian dish.....) tired room decor with old furniture and carpet, and seemingly only twin bed rooms as my husband and I weren't offered a 'large bed' as we had been in other Egyptian hotels. Bathroom was... More

Sorry to say this hotel, which was probably excellent in its day is now in a sad decline. The lobby and hallways are poorly lit, even though there are light there, no doublt to save costs. The room was acceptably clean, but tired, with torn carpets and a view of a wall. Even though there were only a handful of... More

The staff at the Philippe hotel could not do enough for us. They were curtious and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.Of course it is not a five star hotel, and things do go wrong from time to time, particularly with the small family hotels, but this should not worry the season traveller. If you are the type that likes to be pampered... More

As my partner and I were looking for a hotel in Luxor, we came across this really nice hotel website, the pictures were so well taken that we thought, right thats the one but we were SO WRONG! It's the worst hotel we've ever stayed in! When we got to the hotel everything was 10 times smaller, it was dark... More

Where to start? Checked in at The Philippe with Tour Group. Gf and I were given a twin room which was "changed" into a double. Due to length of phone lead the telephone HAD to remain on the bed (we needed early morning wake-up call). Table in the room had to be moved so that one of us could leave... More

We checked one piece of luggage in their secure storage room – when we came back it was gone. We filed a tourist police report for our insurance and the hotel manager lied to police trying to cover-up the hotel’s error. It turned out the bag was taken by some tour group and ended up in another part of the... More

All I have to say is that from start to end it was a nightmare. We arrived with our booking voucher, only for the receptionist to claim that he doesn't know anything about our booking through quick rooms. We payed for the night assuming it would be cleared by the next day, where we spent an entire day on the... More

The Philippe hotel, Luxor, Egypt - marvellous hotel though small in comparison to most. May 2008 The Phillipe wad a marvellous hotel, the staff very friendly and generous. The food was far better than expexted and the range of dishes varied tremendously. The costs for the evening meals was never in excess of £10 which covered 2 starters, 2 main... More

As you walk through the foyer area to get to the lifts, you cannot help but be impressed by the display of Egyptian wares. From colorful papyrus pictures, to statues and mosaic art. The hotel is in a great location, within close walking distance to the Nile or the local markets. Everything that you need is within close walking distance... More
