The room is okay for a single man. But the building really needs a clean up and a renovation! The staff is helpful, and the terrace has a beautiful view of Nile River! Is near the market but you have to chose the back rooms, because the fronts rooms are very noise.

Our bedroom was bright but truly needed a serious cleanup! Dirty windows, furniture, walls, floors and seriously rundown curtains. No double beds in this hotel, only singles. The toilet did not work properly for many days; the kept sending a cleaning woman to make the repair which didn't last 2 flush! Finaly, a plumber solved it for good in no time.... More

yes the terrace is beautiful and staff was very kind (they even gave my money back when I decided to leave one day in advance!). they gave me a room on the side (over a street near the bazar, noisy but not at night. and you can see the Nile too. I asked for a front view but it seems... More

This hotel is dated but I would recommend it for its location and price! The room is clean, the bed is comfortable and they have hot water (travel during winter)! I was given a room with Nile view, which was great as the view was so beautiful! The receptionists are very friendly and helpful and they are not pushy for... More

I was in this hotel at December this year. Thinking that some owner as in Memnon hotel keep it in good condition I decide to stay in it. Unfortunately I was wrong. The room was quite dirty and acoustic isolation more then bad. Sleeping was bad because of noisy from outside. The street of Cornish is quite busy all over a... More

.. But that's Egypt! We missed the lift because it really isn't advertised well, and took 6 flights of stairs up! We did wait in the cooler reception for a while until they found our booking. No haggling over the price, they agreed on the paper work which was a nice change! Our beds were clean and we were given... More

Although this hotel is a bit older, it has a certain faded charm. The rooms are spacious with beautiful expansive views over the Nile river. Our room was clean and it was cleaned daily, towels were provided, and the shower was hot and powerful. The air conditioning unit was old but effective, and there was free wi-fi and DSTV in... More

Location: superb! Beautiful view over the Nile. For 120 pounds had me a big room with airco and balcony+ breakfast. Good working free Wifi in the reception area, friendly staff. Room, paint, beds, washroom: yes....old! Daytrip to Abu Simble (95 pounds for the bustrip to Abu Simble, High Dam, Philae Temple and Unfinished Obelix) was well organised. Felucca + minivan... More

Located across the road from the Nile River, our 3 person room was 4 floors up with expansive Nile views without third world sewerage smells or local beggars hustling you. This very modest hotel has worn furniture, isn't staffed by any beautiful women & has seen better days but it’s hardly an issue for $15 USD incl breakfast. We just... More

My family and I travelled through Egypt in December 2011, we spent one night at the El Salam in Aswan.
