Quite the enigma, this place. The website shows the rooms well, and they are pretty good, although we had an executive suite, so it was as good as the rooms can get here, and the cheaper rooms looked pretty average. Yes it is central in Honiara, but that is a curse as well as a blessing. It is situated about... More

Not much changes here the rooms are very tatty apart from the new exec rooms as with all hotels in Honiara over priced as there is very little competition . Location is great the views are great I just wish they would renovate the rooms as there is so much potential for this hotel.

Great location very close to everything. The renovated rooms are fabulous - see the photos on the website. Avoid the unrenovated rooms. The renovation teams re working flat stick so more and more rooms meeting the grade. Restaurant very average though Wednesday Buffet Night is great (need to book in advance) and the Japanese restaurant is always popular. The staff... More

The Mendana is one of the best in Honiara. It is well positioned close to govt and commercial offices. The executive room was clean, a good size with a bath and separate shower. The best part was the view across the bay. The Japanese restaurant is very good while the main dining room is ordinary. The worst feature is the... More

We arrived at the hotel with high expectations, after having seen the full page add in the SolAir in flight mag, are were somewhat disappointed to find that the room we were in looked nothing like the photo's. Turns out they are renovating and we were in an unrenovated room. Anyway, facilities were comfortable enough, although a random lack of... More

They have completed the renos in room 501- 509 Get one of these for about Sol 1600 / night Clean, nicely furnished, lovely bathroom, one can soak in the tub while watching the waves roll in. Breakfast buffet is way better than Heritage, and the Wednesday night buffet dinner is great. One needs to reserve as it quickly fills up... More

My wife and I took a room for an overnight stay prior to returning to Brisbane. We had not made a booking and were happy to get accommodation as the Hotel was apparently full. We were aware that there was ongoing maintenance work at the hotel so it would be noisy but when the pneumatic drill next door continued past... More

I stayed at the hotel for work recently and was incredibly surprised at the price! The rates are those of a 4 star hotel and yet the rooms are dirty, old and in terrible disrepair. The bathroom in my room was particularly bad. The toilet seat was broken, the shower curtain had mould on it and the shower walls were... More

Am a repeat visitor over several years - largely due to location and growing familiarity with the advantages and disadvantages of the hotel. It is aged but with incremental renovations taking place so a bit hit and miss on the state of the rooms - hit = recently renovated rooms (Seaview rooms currently been redressed and my usual choice because... Pleasant stay in Honiara - friendly staff and reasonable service. However, maintenance has not kept everything up to standards. If they would invest a bit more it could return to its former glory. The Japanese restaurant was excellent and on reflection I should have gone there more often. The rooms in the old wing are not up to standards -... More
