We were fortunate enough to spend 3 weeks in this Island Paradise! Pete, Marg, Kim and Kaid made us a part of their "Papatura family", which we loved after travelling away from home for several months! Great choice of surf breaks (local "knowhow" provided by the surf guides) , amazing snorkelling and swimming, stand up paddle boards and kayaks are... More

What a beautiful place to go for a holiday! Picture perfect location, wonderful hosts, delicious meals. We stayed in a loft bungalow (4 of us), with its own absolute waterfront verandah (with hammock). Beds were super comfortable and power all night to run fans and LED lights. Mozzie nets provided but we didn't need them. Beautiful surroundings with beach or... More

Its exactly 12 months since I experienced the delights of Papatura, however with incredible memories still clear and some recent reviews I felt it was time to share my own experiences. Papatura is a once in a lifetime, extraordinary experience we should all have. Pete and Marg, the owners are magnificent people, who were described by one in my party... More

Travelled to Paptura early December 2011 with a large group of diverse, well travelled surfers. In summary Pros: The island - it's raw, beautiful, isolated and peaceful. A jungle contrast for the suburban visitor. Accommodation - simple but clean, beautifully presented in lush tropical waterfront huts. They've done a great job in a short time and have considered the environment... More

Papatura island is beautiful and the locals are always smiling. I went with a big group of surfers and we enjoyed each others company, fun times. Surf was good. There were some issues that left a sour taste in a few of our mouths. The lack of information about the surf spots. I felt that we were left to find... More

I don't know how they interpreted their fuel to Kumas in his story, but I was keeping Rick informed how the fuel was going. Both boats were 2 strokes, each boat was loaded everytime they went out so they worked hard. Every one is an authority on outboard fuel consumption. Every boat has 2 tanks, Rick fills the empty tank... More

We were here in 2009 and have been blown away at the improvements. Signed walks, more water activities, flourishing coral garden with resident lion fish, and the best food in the entire Solomon Islands. Fresh seafood and cordon bleu presentation. We know how hard it is to access a continuous supply of fresh fruit and vegetables in Papatura but Marg... More

Papatura Island was the choice for our family holiday despite reading several negative reveiws regarding quality and quantity of food. With these issues in mind we packed heaps of snacks etc for in between meals. Thank God we did as most of the meals provided were of poor quality and not enough to go around. On one occasion my Wife... More

Thanks Peter, We have learnt a lot having both John S and your family at Papatura Island Retreat. We now understand how guests will try anything to avoid paying their accounts and we have implemented new systems so guests can’t leave without paying what is due. Your comments have been most helpful and we have now created a compendium for... More

Our holiday in Papatura failed to live up to expectations with ongoing conflict regarding what we paid for and what was additional being a major source of conflict. Be sure you know what you are paying for before you committ. The food was ordinary and instead of eating fresh seafood (caught by ourselves) we were served mushy curries and rice,... More

Myself an 3 friends went to Papatura for a fishing holiday. All I can say is that from the moment we stepped on the island we felt at home. Pete and Marg are the most wonderful hosts you could imagine. They have had really exciting and interesting lives and are happy to share their great stories, its a great tale... More
