From the first moment I arrived to the hostel, the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful, they actually made me feel like home. The place was clean and well located, just a few steps from the main spots in the city. I stayed in a private room and later in a shared dorm with a/c, and both were clean and... More

I had an amazing time at the Black Cat hostel - it was the recommended hostel in the travel guide it had and I was very glad I followed their suggestion. It has basically everything you could want from a hostel. Rooms are clean and spacious, staff are friendly and helpful. It has great facilities, and the outdoor pool is... More

This is simply a real nice place to stay, on the doorstep to everything you need and want in the city. The staff are genuine 'salt of the earth' friendly and caring people and very happy to assist in anyway they can. Their English skills make all the difference to your experience staying here and in Asuncion itself because generally... More

This is a converted building - so many of the rooms do not have very much between the room next to them. I had a private single - however, the 'wall' was just a thin piece of wood, that separated my room from one of the big dorms. The 'wall' did not even go up to the ceiling, as instead... More

Hostel is in el centro and close to everything, very convenient. Great helpful staff with good english skills. On my last day, they gave me a special taxi discount from the hostel to the airport, 80,000 G instead of normal 100,000G.

We booked two nights in this hostel because of the good reviews. But all the good reviews seem to be written by guests who stayed in the dorm. The double room we booked with booking.com was not worth the money. On that site they say that the room has a private bathroom and that they provide wifi troughout the hostel.... More

great location, friendly (english speakin) staff and cute cat :-) internet is working fine, kitchen for use and nice area to sit, rooms spacious only things that could be better - for the money you pay (i know, Asuncion is a bit more expensive) you should get better mattresses (those are very thin foam mattresses) also a curtain (to shield... For a place with supposedly limited tourism infrastructure, the Black Cat Hostel seems to have hit most of the marks for a good backpacker accomodation. I stayed in the dorm without airconditioning (50 000G) but for 75000 you can choose the cooler option. My dorm had fans and lockers, and my only complaint was the matresses were a bit thin.... More

We (me and my boyfriend are backpacking) and many others use Asuncion as a stopover to reach other destionations in South America. The hostel was one of the better ones in terms of clean, quiet, cozy and a very helpful staff. We stayed both in a dorm and in a private and they were both were good. We were both... More
