The hotel is 7 minutes away from the beach. There is a street with cafes and restaurants nearby. Very friendly staff, especially the staff at the breakfast cafe and the girl who cleaned our room every day. The room is spacious. There is a refrigerator and an air conditioner. Breakfasts are delicious and always replenished. There is a swimming pool. It is not large, but very warm. There is a game room and a room where you can work. A very nice and cozy place. I recommend it!

This is a nice, two-story hotel from the late 1960's that survived the demolition of the area and its replacement with soulless condo towers. The location is unbeatable. The hotel has an old-fashioned vibe, in a good way. It opened in 1970, is definitely a bit worn around the edges but very well maintained, including the common areas and gardens, very clean and comfortable. The staff is super friendly, from the reception desk to the housekeepers and the kitchen staff. We had asked for a room with a double bed and got a bigger one that also had an additional single bed in it - extra space! The bathroom was a bit small but not a problem for us. The room was incredibly quiet, we never heard another person. Great wifi, great air conditioning, excellent housekeeping. Beach towels were provided on request. The breakfast buffet had more variety than I had expected. We really appreciated the early checkin and late checkout.

The location is very good (around the corner from the Enjoy Casino & hotel). Outdoor parking is exclusive for the hotel residents, and it is not charged additionally. Front desk staff are good. When I arrived, the room they were going to give me had the air conditioning at full power (it was a winter night). But the front desk manager immediately gave me a warmer room (# 52). The room size is fine for one person but too compact for two. The bathroom is definitely small. It was evident that the hotel maintenance staff put a lot of efforts in keeping the rooms and bathroom, a bit dated, not only clean, but also in good shape. Breakfast was very good. Internet speed, very slow.

Pleasant enough, basic hotel. Rooms are a bit old fashioned but very clean. Breakfast is good and its handy that it runs till 12. Pool is a nice addition. Hotel is well located, right next to the bus station and beaches. Unfortunately we visited Punta del Este in low season (Beginning of May) and whilst we expected it to be quiet we weren't prepared for just how quiet it was. There really was nothing going on and it was tricky to even find places open to eat. Obviously though this is no fault of the hotel itself. Overall Very Good.

Hotel Ajax is a small older two story building with character and comfort. The windows have an extra outer blind to pull down to darken the room which I missed at first. Only about 4 blocks to bus station and two to beach one way and about 5 other side. Centered in the commercial and restaurant area, the location is practical and convenient. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable. Bedspread intead of daily -changed duvet cover, but the rooms are very clean . I enjoyed my 5 day stay and would choose this hotel again.

I spent a couple of days (2) with my 7 years old child at this hotel. It is conveniently located close to 2 nice beaches, the bus stop (from Montevideo), and plenty of restaurants and pubs in the area.

I was travelling with my family so I spent 1 night at this hotel. Cons: Breakfast is poor, front desk not very helpful, very small room, bathroom does not look very well cleaned. Pros: Price. I would recommend if you're travelling on a budget.

This hotel was reasonably priced on bookings. The staff are very friendly and some of the desk staff speak English. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The breakfast is good with lots of choices. The location is close to lots of places to eat. The famous hand in the sand is just a few blocks away.

I stayed again at the Ajax on a business trip to Punta del Este. It is convenient, much less pricey than many hotels around, and its internet works just fine. Definitely it´s for those who spend most of the time outside the room, but even if you want to stick around the hotel, the common areas are spacious and agreeable. I would recommend it for anyone going to Punta on a budget.
