I have just checked out after a short 3 day stay at the Gefinor, my 4th in the past 2 years, and it continues to be a great home away from home - the staff is very friendly, always remembers you, and even your 'story', upgrades you when they can, and the service, cleanliness and overall comfort are exceptional.
Location: 3 minutes walk to Hamra main street, where you can eat, drink, shop, and have fun. You won't have to go anywhere else if this is not your first time to Lebanon. Also it isn't far from down town but you need to take a cab.
