Incredible location -- peaceful and beautiful. Enjoyed lounging in a hammock, swimming, hiking and paddling on the river. Staff are very friendly, but there seems to be tension with the owner. The food is overpriced, takes an unreasonable amount of time to prepare, and there are frequently errors with the orders. The bungalows looked remodeled, but our chief complaint was... More

Beautiful location, great rooms with a view, at very reasonable price. The problem with this place is that the food served in the restaurant borders on inedible (I live in Laos and am by no means a fussy eater), it's seriously expensive, and you have to wait at least two hours before you see any food (I know this is... This place doesnt market itself an an upscale nature resort so you know what to expect - but you wont be disappointed ...excellent views, great restaurant and a lot of respect for the owner who is trying to build something positive and help the Laotian people ....

We came here after being dissatisfied with another eco resort up river. A totally tranquil lodge on the banks of the Nam Ngum, you simply sit and breathe in and out with the jungle. Food is from a limited menu but of great quality and if you want a place to relax and chill out, this is it!! Totally recommended... More

This place is beautiful. The experience was like no other. Friendly staff, fantastic nature and super good food. The price was reasonable and so close to Vientiane city. It only took us about one hour to get from Vientiane to one of the most idyllic locations I have ewer been, and I have been around. Waking up in the jungle... More

After we spent one week in Bangkok enjoying all the excitements that this big city has to offer we really were longing for a more quiet and idyllic place .... and finally we ended up in Ban Pako. We just spent 2 days at this eco resort. It was absolute heaven, especially after 4 days in the hustle and bustle of Vientiane. The river views from all 4 bungalows are spectacular. And they all have huge balconies hanging over the cliff. The restaurant is excellent. The staff is very friendly. For a small charge,l they will pick you up... More

A group of 6 of us went to Ban Pako for one night and it was one of the best days of our entire trip. Ban Pako is simple but beautiful. It is an ecolodge - so don't expect 5 star accommodation - its really simple - just a room with a mosquito net and a small bathroom, all electricity... More

We stayed in Ban Lao Pako a few days in february 2011. It is a nice place but there is some space for improvements. There are, as far as I know, not so many places in Laos where one can stay out of the cities.Food, drinks and service is ok. It is obvious that it is run by a man,... More
