The room met our cleanliness standards and the location was quiet in the old city, which is hard to come by. But when it came to the staff we were highly disappointed. They were virtually no help. We only had hot water 1 out of 3 showers. Several options near this hotel, I would check them out.

It should first be noted that this "Especen Hotel" is in no way connected with the "Especen hotel" on 28 tho Xuong & 41 Ngo Huyen st (clearly identifiable by its green signage) which appears in the Lonely Planet. This Hotel is fantastic, I stumbled upon it after staying at a disappointing Hotel of the same name, just around the corner. I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff, they are very helpful. This place has large airy rooms with a bathtub! Just what's needed after being out and about in Hanoi. Some rooms have a balcony too.... More
