650B for double room (low season) This is no luxury hotel. Having said that the overall price/value is excellent. The hotel is certainly dated and could use some upgrading. But at this price it is a better value than many of the small guesthouses in Chiang Mai. Rooms are spacious, have cable TV, Fridge, AC, a small table with 2 chairs.... More

I have stayed here several times, most recently in late March / early April 2012. OK the rooms are getting a little tired (strangely they have recently re-carpeted some of them without even re-painting the walls) and the bathrooms have seen better days, but for 690 B in this location you can't really complain. It's near the Tapae Gate, but... More

Not worth 850 baht a night. The shower was crap, bed was lumpy and springy. Aircon too noisy. They only good thing was the cable tv with some english channels and staff was friendly. More

Well located cheap rooms which are overwhelmingly musty smelling. $23 a night for double, air conditioned, aging rooms, we nearly checked out because of musty smell. Nice foyer & restaurant with terrace. American breakfast special $2. Next to temple in quiet location in central Chiang Mai. Hiso Star massage attached to the hotel has very pushy manager, massages not cheap... More

Place is a little old but more than adequate for a place to rest after a day's activities. Was given a room on the 4th floor with a view of Wat Bupparam which made me feel very at ease. Bed was large and comfortable enough but pillows were a little thin and soft. Good selection of TV channels to choose... More

C'mon, guys. Sure, the hotel is a bit shabby. But for B500 per night, this hotel is exactly what I'm looking for when I travel. I stayed at the Lotus Hotel Pang Suan Kaew for two nights, and was expected to pay more for daily internet access than my entire room costs at the Tapae Place. (Oh, and internet here... More

We booked in for 2 weeks at the end of January 2011, only rooms available were "de- luxe" but were not de-luxe at all but very basic, dirty and really shabby. Wallpaper peeling off the dirty walls, and carpet was filthy and covered in burns. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly at all during our stay. Woken early every morning by... More

Provided what I expect from a hotel in the price range. Pros: Quiet location. Cons: pillow was way too firm, bathroom fan didn't work, nearest cluster of restaurants was 400 yards away, absurdly short hose for shower head so I had to squat to get my head and shoulders wet. More
