I have been a guest at Mae Ping hotel almost since the opening in the 80´s. I have considered the Mae Ping hotel as my home while in Chiangmai. After an absence of 9 years I was really looking forward to visit the hotel again. But this time I was really disappointed. I can truely say that, as far as... More

Hotel has great potential but is very outdated and never felt clean. Hotel staff indifferent. Good location in Chiang Mai, close to restaurants and Night Bazaar. This was the only hotel in Thailand where English was a problem.

We spent three nights here over Vesak Day weekend. It's clear the property was once a grand resort - very sad that it's fallen into disrepair. Pros: - very friendly and helpful staff. - well-priced and delicious lunch buffet (assuming you eat only the Thai food and are wise enough to stay away from the Western selection). - beautiful building... 3 of us stayed recently at this hotel for 4 nights. The staff were pleasant overall, although there were some issues with English. When we arrived and checked in, our room STUNK of smoke and other things I prefer not to guess what. This hotel is supposedly smoke free, not just the floor, so we were promptly shifted to another... The rooms are a little dated but the services given were great. The location is great--a short 5 mins walk to the Night Bazaar. It is close to the Old City as well, a mere 20 mins brisk walk but I strongly suggest a tuk tuk or red bus for a quick 8 mins drive. The buffet breakfast is average... More

I thought this hotel was great for its price and central location. The rooms were a good size and the bed comfortable. The bathrooms could do with an upgrade but they were clean. The buffet breakfast was great. The selection was broad and the food fresh. The two pools are fantastic and a great place to relax during the day... More

Everything about this hotel is very old. The first thing I saw when I went into my room was a cockroach running past my bed mattress. It is a large hotel but they really need to upgrade the hotel. The good thing about it is that they have free WiFi which is very strong everywhere you go around this hotel.... More

I booked in to this hotel last year for two weeks. The location was good, close to the night market and also close for the local markets. The hotel is showing its age, the tiles in the bathroom were mouldy in some places and the room badly in need of an upgrade. The buffet breakfast was crowded every morning, but... More

The food and the rooms are the biggest let down. we barely ate the buffet breakfast and walked for dinner every night. rooms were very outdated and I didn't feel the shower was overly clean. The location is amazing! great for night markets and near heaps of restaurants. The staff were great and friendly throughout our 6 night stay. The... More
