Alexander Hotel Bangkok is a cheap, three-star hotel located Bang Kapi, Bangkok, Thailand. This is one of the few hotels that I am aware that allows clients to check in early in the morning, rather than late in the afternoon. The hotel is about 30-45 minutes drive from the Suvarnabhumi Airport. Located in an extremely poor location, Alexander Hotel is very inconspicuous and the cab driver was not able to locate the entrance at the first go on all 4 days when I am here. Coupled to that, the next U-turn on the road is a good 10-15 minutes drive away. Therefore, I would usually book my Uber cab even before I leave my room for the lobby. Even so, I would have to wait for a good 15 minutes in the lobby. For unknown reasons, the road that leads to the Hotel would always have a traffic jam, and even from somewhere near, e.g. Siam Paragon, I took close to 2 hours just to get back to the Hotel. This is extremely frustrating. The Hotel staffs, however, are quite friendly, although they would need to brush up on their English and Chinese proficiency if they want to deal with tourists from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Europe, and America. There are a couple of Hotel staffs that are able to speak Chinese fluently. The staffs, however, are very helpful. Seeing that I had some trouble contacting my Uber (who could only speak Thai as well), the Hotel staff asked if I needed help and he did help me speak to the Uber driver. The Hotel does offer complimentary breakfast (0600-0900) for the clients during their stay. The breakfast spread, however, can be quite limited and repetitive. Most of the food every day remain unchanged, except for some small changes. The food can be a little spicy and cold as well. There is only one live cooking station, which features either pork congee or fish porridge (fish is rubbery). The Hotel is also lacking in some amenities. Even though there is an outdoors swimming pool within the Hotel, the water looked slightly dirty with the birds feeding on the pool water. In my 4 days of stay here, I did not note any tourists swim or dip in the pool. The shallowest end of the pool is 0.80m and the deepest end is 1.70m. Another downside of the Hotel room is that there is an absence of a safe. The safe, however, is located within the Hotel, but in a more central location, which I found to be slightly unconvenient. Also, all the sockets inside the room are 2-pinned. Therefore, do plan ahead and bring an adapted. Otherwise, the Hotel Reception is able to loan one to you (even if you have 2 rooms), subject to availability. Each room is only given WiFi access to 2 devices.…
