I arrived at the hotel with attitude because it wasn't my choice; I was talked into it by my trekking company. But, from the moment I arrived, I had to admit that it really wasn't that bad. What it lacked in atmosphere (it's a standard Kathmandu-modern multi-storey with no Newari architecture), it more than made up for in its practical... More

This isn't a bad hotel in Kathmandu. Very central in Thamel. Close to shops and restaurants. Staff are accommodating although they could use a few more smiles. The rooms are clean but bathrooms are substandard. Water pressure is almost non existent so it's so hard to take a shower and the water smells like sewer. I must say though, their... More

After experiencing some pretty 'basic' Thamel hotels on previous trips to Kathmandu, the Samsara was a delight. Set in a quiet side-street, yet in the heart of Thamel, it is clean and spacious. The staff smile and the manager couldn't be nicer and more helpful. Free internet and wi-fi, loads of hot water, and a generator to get over those... More

Very nice hotel, if you wish to be in thamel. The hotel stuff will try to do their best for you. The internet is free, and so the wifi. In general, its good, but they can try to imrove their breakfast More

We stayed here on three different occasions during our stay in Nepal. It is located just steps away from the main streets of Thamel. Nice garden in front of hotel. We stayed in room 406 during two visits, it was clean and well presented with a view over the garden. The bathroom was clean, plenty of hot water. Towels were... More

In the centre of Thamel, but set back with its own garden, it is a quiet haven, from the busy outside streets. The rooms are clean and with constant hot water, a real treat after beginning in the mountains. The staff are very friendly and helpfully. I look forward to my return visit. More

Upon first arriving, loved the location of the hotel. After that, it all went downhill. When we got to our room they asked us if we wanted a larger room at the same cost. Great....or so we thought. It turns out that the room had a number of problems. First was that the AC (or heater, depending upon the time... More

We stayed here three different times during our stay in Nepal. Great location, just steps away from the main streets of Thamel. Nice garden in front of hotel. The shower in our first room was not divided from the toilet so everything got wet. During our second and third stay, we asked for a room with a tub and shower,... More

The Samsara Hotel is located in a side street off Thamel so that you have the advantage of being in Thamel but away from the noise and crowds. The hotel does have a lovely garden, but unfortunately the pollution is so high in Kathmandu that once you're off Thamel, you really don't feel like staying outside. My husband and I... More

While not a 4 star hotel by American standards, our two stays at the Samsara Resort were very pleasant. The atmosphere is that of a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Thamel (literally just a few steps away). It's amazing how the chaos of Thamel falls away as you walk into the Samsara property. That alone is worth... More
