The strikes meant I had to walk a lot so was glad that it was quite near to Thamel where the tourist shops are. Room was clean and well appointed though there was no coffee, just tea to go with the kettle. AC worked well throughout - useful as t was 34C. Bathroom was functional, again fine. Safe and dressing... More

Quite well located, close to Thamel , the trekkers/tourist market. The lobby is quite ordinary and the Air Conditioning was not on (May is pretty warm). Even the Hotel van which picked us and dropped us to the airport did not have the AC on. The rooms were very comfortable, the housekeeping excellent. The Coffee shop was pretty shoddy, especially... Beware, it is not a property of Shangri- La, the genuine brand. It is actually a 3 star hotel with the same name. The rooms are small with no quality interiors. One of the days during my stay, I thought of utilizing the bath tub but then I saw brown water running through the tap. One of my friends also... More

This hotel is very well located and also well priced. Got a smiling welcome and easy check in at the hotel. The rooms and wash rooms are very nice with good wooden flooring. Few hitches, the bed is not stuck to the back and if you try and sit it keeps sliding down. Another irritating thing is no milk with... More

We were here recently as part of a trekking tour group, and stayed here 3 days at beginning and 1 at the end. I'm very happy with quality of the place. Feels very nice and peaceful (Note that in my mind a 4 stars here wouldn't equal to a 4 stars in Hawaii, or Paris, for example -- bc after... More

Please do not choose this venue for your holidays. A terrible place for food, services, etiquettes, staff attitude and anything you name . The rooms were bad with insects in bed, broken bed , water clogging in washrooms, in bath tubs etc etc etc. The list is too long. Food was horrible, the staff was the most unprofessional and impolite... More

Went here with VJV group and found it to be rather a nice place. The rooms we had(we called in twice) were excellent and very clean. The garden was beautiful and wonderful to have a nice tasty dinner in. Food varied from ordinary to very good. The location is away from too much traffic and made sleeping a pleasure More

We spent three nights at the Shangri La Hotel in Kathmandu before we set off on our tour of Nepal. The room was clean and tidy although the furniture could have done with being updated but I'm probably being a bit picky. They class this as 5 star but I would class it as 3 star by western standards. The... More

With a major change in this portion of our itinerary, we needed to have one overnight in Kathamndu on our way through. As such, we chose this hotel for its location and USD $150 per night charge. It was clean and in a good location for Durbar, As an and Thamel, but other than that it was just okay. When... More
