Well located, has wireless connection, will organise trips/transport. Cleanliness OK. 50USD plus tax rooms very small. Service Ok but somewhat impersonal (getting too big?). We stayed in January and it was unpleasantly cold to sit in the courtyard to have a shabbily presented and poor breakfast. Work was on-going so more sitting space inside may eventually become available. generally found... More

I attempted to book a room at this hotel for one night this past November, as myself and my boyfriend wanted a night in a warmer place than our flat. A the time, both of us were working in Kathmandu (myself at an NGO and my boyfriend in a Ktm hospital as a doctor). I was informed when I phoned... More

We spent two weeks at the Kathmandu Guest House. The location is very good with a very nice garden, though you need to book the most expensive rooms to feel comfortable considering the fact that many rooms are not really well preserved and clean. Moreover during our stay we have experienced a very serious event which made us anticipate the... More

I stayed for two nights in Jan in KGH, as they nick name it. It is in the main street of Thamel, where you get everything at an arm's length. The hotel entry is little congested, but then it is a good hotel. The service is very good and the open house restaurant gives a good ambience. However, everytime I... More

After traveling from India to Nepal with a tour we had one last night in Kathmandu before flying out very early in the morning. We chose KGH because we had previously spent an evening in the front bar which has a lovely atmosphere. We made our booking online and were told we would be picked up from the domestic airport... We've stayed at the KGH a couple of times now. The place is always buzzing yet the rooms are quiet and the garden areas a haven from the bustle of Thamel's busy streets. In terms of location, you really can't beat it, but it does mean that you pay over the odds both in and around the hotel. We go... More

Staid there again a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere is great as it has always been, both in the front yard in the outdoors cafe-restaurant area, as well as at the back in the gardens... However it has now doubled in price from 5 years ago, and I concur with others who say it is no longer feasible for... More

Stayed two nights. Garden facing room was good and clean. However, they "forgot" to tell me that when the power is out, the rooms only have two working bulbs and no outlets. More

KGH is in an unbeatable location. The garden view rooms are nice and airy but the standard ones are dark (and dingy). You get a decent breakfast but it's not always hot, and it takes some getting used to with the power cuts. Wifi is chargeable which is a downer. As a base for thamel though it's well located and... We stayed here for one night and that was one night too long!!! The whole attitude of the reception/admin staff seems to be that they know they are a very well known location in the area and dont really seem to care whether you enjoy your stay or are unhappy about any element of your stay with them because they...
