We stayed at the Shanker Hotel in Katmandu for 3 days. It was an amazing oasis away from the hustle & bustle of Thamel and the busy roads. But only a rickshaw ride from the centre of action. The manager & staff were particularly helpful and very efficient & friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast and dinner providing variety for all tastes.... More

Everything in the hotel was nice. I had friendly and nice speaking Driver from Hotel. The foods in the reception were great. Specially small lever workers were friendly and honest; I liked their behavior to me. I would recommend if you can afford here....nice place! More

Most of our staff have literally spent their entire lives at the Hotel with an average term of more than 20 years! That's the root of our great service, because great service comes from the heart. We welcome you to come visit us again! More

I have stayed a total of 5 nights in this hotel. The hotel staff, Ramesh was very honest to us when I inquired whether booking from agoda or direct with the hotel. Which does make a difference to us. We were given an upgraded room that is very huge and nice for our 1st 2 nights. However, on my returning... More

The hotel is nice but the two receptionists tried to steal our money. They gave me a bill which was far larger than it should of been and tried to confuse me because I was paying in a foreign currency. After anout 30 minutes of arguing she finally charged me the correct amount. She was claiming my bill was $60... More

We are well aware of this account. We apologize for the rude behavior of the reception staff. The root cause of that problem lies in exchange rate fluctuation. Our policy and every hotel's policy in Nepal is to Quote the rate in US Dollars. If the rate is quoted in dollars the guest will pay in dollars equivalent to day... More

The hotel is located in a quieter area not too far from the Thamel, rooms are clean, staff very nice. A pool, hot water and comfortable beds. There are gazebos in the gardens to sit as well. There is a breakfast buffet that is ok. I found a coffee shop to the left of the main gate that was amazing... More

The building is old, so expect little dust here and there, but it's nothing to fret about. Our room is very clean, big, beautiful and comfortable! This place used to be an old palace and I'm happy that they reserved the old palace's beauty nicely, added with modern necessities to make it a world class hotel. Located only 10-15mins walk... More

The Hotel Shanker is set in beautiful grounds, about 15 minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of Thamel. It is a welcome retreat from the constant pestering that you receive in Thamel centre, where tiger balm, rickshaws, taxis, mini chess sets, mini violins, pashminas, t-shirts and other tat are offered to you incessantly. The hotel itself is well decorated,... More

We stayed here for 3 nights during our stay in Kathmandu. I liked the overall look and feel of the place. There are carved wooden panels on walls and at some other places.
