Pretty tired furnishings & carpets. Fruit fly infestation in bar, AC overwhelmed even by moderate 30 degree May day. Wireless network access at a crawl. $20 for water and a scotch. Gym equipment dangerous (belt on treadmill slips and gym host who worked out entire time I was there on only bike didn't think it worth warning guests). Will skip... More

Built in 1991 and probably at the time was the best hotel available in Dakar. Changed hands late last year and is now The King Fahd Palace. The hotel has a very good location in Almadies less than 10mins from the current main airport in Dakar, however the hotel is in bad need of a complete re-fit, some floors have... More

Hotel is tired, rooms are nasty with poor beds and facilities are 1/2star in the rooms. Breakfast has many flies and food quality was very average with many people. Pool is ok and lunch buffet was better but beware this hotel let's many day visitors in and this would be a nightmare for a family.

The breakfast buffet has alot of choices, with some very friendly staff. Loved the beachside of the hotel.

Stayed for a night while transiting up the west coast of Africa. Overpriced Rooms were clean but very old and tired. Needs a complete upgrade to bring it from the 80's to the 2010's.

I had to leave troubled Mali and was dropped off at the King Fahd after a 19 hour bus ride. Although it was the middle of the night, they welcomed our group gracefully and made 58 check-ins a breeze. Everything was good and clean and things went smoothly for all. In fact, many wanted to give up their tickets home... More

The grounds, views, location and service may be the best you'll find in Dakar. The rooms could use some renovations though. If I ever returned to Dakar I'd probably stay here again. You can't beat the views of the Atlantic Ocean from the west facing rooms on the higher floors.

This former Meridien hotel has some positives: free wifi (some reliability problems but available probably 90 percent of the time I was there), AC that works well, hot water and a great shower head, and clean linens. An excellent buffet breakfast was included in the price of my room, and dinners at the poolside restaurant were adequate. On the other... More

February 2012, in the King Fahd Palace Hotel in Dakar ,Senegal, there is a strong link between the hotel security manager ( mr. M'Ballo ) and a local mafia boss ( Mr. SERING TACO THIAW ) , which end up in forcing the hotel guest to pay taxi fares from 5 to 10 times higher that the applicable prices. Furthermore... More

This review is a bit overdue but may still be helpful. I note immediately that it is no longer LeMeridien President but King Fahd Palace. I suppose this can speak volume as it's no longer a Starwood hotel. I am not surprised actually. The hotel has a lot of potential but can use a serious facelift and refreshing. I personally... More
