We were on the first day of a two week Malian visit, and needed a good place to get acclimated to the country for a night before heading to our host's house. This was quite perfect - a comfortable, friendly, and clean atmosphere within close distance to downtown Bamako. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English, and gave... More

The Sleeping Camel is so great. The rooms are clean, the staff is super welcoming and the food is outstanding. Matt (the owner) really puts a great deal of effort on making the place as cozy as it can be. My only recommendation would be to bring your own pillow - or roll up a shirt because their pillows are... More

A wonderful place to base your journey to the explore the markets, sights, restaurants of Bamako. Matt and his staff are marvelous. Room 3 has the best shower in all of Mali :-{)). We so enjoyed the fireworks show over the river for New Years Eve. Thanks for a memorable night and stay at both ends of our visit to Mali.

When we arrived at The Sleeping Camel, we were informed at reception that they never received my online reservation. However, they found us a room for the 4 days we were there. The staff is very helpful and the location is good with an amazing restaurant right down the street. The rooms are simple but clean. at first I was... More

We really liked it here and found the staff to be super accommodating and helpful, whatever our problems were. Our host was welcoming, the beds were comfortable and the food was very good. It was a great platform from which to explore Mali!

The rooms are very basic although many have air-conditioning. Often bathrooms are shared yet they remain very clean and the showers work very well. It's also a backpackers' delight with room in its spacious location for campers and camping. However, the reason this place receives incredible reviews is the level of care and service delivered by all of the staff.... More

We camped at this hotel location and absolutely loved it. I was able to call home in America for a very small fee, swam in a above ground pool, and relaxed while eating some good-priced food. Traveling through West Africa can be rough, but its nice when you can find a place like this to unwind. Location is wonderful in... More

The 3 of us were riding motorbikes and enjoyed the space and the chance to do some bike maintenance without any hassles. The place was very clean, comfortable with a certain laid back atmosphere.Monica,Simon and Ivan loved the Sleeping Camel. Pavel the Russian who stayed there and who we ran into down the track at times reminisced how good it was... More

We took the tour to the Festival in the Desert in Timbuktu. Traveling through the Dogon with Assigue as our guide was a beautiful experience - informative, surprising, with lots of walking up steep cliffs - not dangerous though just bring sturdy shoes. Sleeping on rooftops perched along the 200km cliff that makes up this unique region - like nothing... More

Ended up staying much longer than we thought but the staff, especially Bill (one of the owners), were very helpful in assisting us with obtaining our visas, organizing excursions, evening outings and even let us dig up part of the garden for a hog roast! I will certainly be coming back!
