I would like to start by appreciating the staff hospitality! Every one I run to is very polite and accomodative! But the hotel needs quite few remodeling/upgrading, especially the Bathrooms and the Elevator. Also some rooms need to be smoke free!! The room was big, the bed large, and good windows that let in a lot of light. While things are a bit run down, they're fairly clean. Staff friendly but not very professional. Maintenance a problem: elevators barely work, hot water system improperly installed (only hot water in shower). Restaurant awful.

Reception area very small. Lifts very old and scary. Room very basic with the barest requirement. TV reception terrible. Not worth even the transit stay, which was booked by Ethiopian Airlines and which I paid for. Thankfully on return journey was put up in Ararat Hotel was splendid. Ethiopia is a very friendly and helpful place to be unless you are at this hotel, service was slow, staff disinterested in doing their work or helping us customers. I switched to the Bole Rock hotel, I was quite pleased with that hotel and the staff there are very hospitable.
