My husband & I have been all over the world, several times, and the Black Rock Lodge takes top prize. They not only provide beautiful rain-forest cabanas, overlooking a majestic river, but also include top-shelf meals, served in a cliff-side open cabana-style dining room, overlooking the river. While you enjoy breakfast, the knowledgeable guides bring out their high-powered binoculars and... More

We stayed in four different hotels while we were in Belize, and this was definitely our favorite. I still dream about the sound of the rapids that lull you to sleep, the bright stars at night, and the exotic birds (hello Toucans!) spotted from the pavilion in the morning. I never wanted to leave. It was everything I hoped for... More

Your own little cabana with a private patio and hammocks, surrounded by lush jungle, overlooking rapids on the beautiful Macal river. This is such a special place. From the jungle and river sounds to the great staff and variety of excursions (we visited the Mayan ruins of Cahal Pech, Xunantunich, & Tikal in Guatamala and the Market in San Ignacio... More

My boyfriend and I spent 4 days at Black Rock Lodge this past August and could not have had a more enjoyable experience! Black Rock, located in a Belizian Rainforest, is unlike any place I had ever visited. The atmosphere is wonderful - from the cabins to the dining area to the staff, and especially the location! The sights are... More

The outstanding thing about Black Rock Lodge is the atmosphere created by the staff. When we arrived we were greeted by Giovanni and Jesse, both of whom are responsible for the staff of the lodge. Their introduction of themselves and the introduction to the Lodge's layout, activities available at the location and offsite, and the guides available to assist, made... More

We stayed at BRL for five nights and had a great time. The staff here was amazing, especially Giovanni and Rojilio (sp), who were always ready to offer advice and any assistance that was needed. We knew the place was top notch when we needed air in the tire of our rental vehicle (we had gotten a flat the previous... More

Stayed four nights on a group trip and agree with prior reviewers -- this is a topnotch destination. I liked the food, the staff and the resort facilities very much. Everything is done with what I can only describe as a keen and intelligent eye for what a tourist wants from an eco-lodge experience. Do not miss the cave tubing... More

Black Rock Lodge is located near San Ignacio, Belize. This is near the border with Guatemala. Once you leave the main highway, you reach Black Rock by a six mile, very bumpy dirt road. The setting is remote. The lodge sits on the side of a hill, and a picturesque river runs along the bottom. There are a dozen or... More

We recently made a quick trip to Black Rock Lodge for three days, and it was one of the best trips we ever made. Giovanni and the rest of the staff made sure we were comfortable and happy at all times, and the food was excellent. The area is not short on sights, and we recommend the ruins of Caracol.... More

My wife and I spent three nights at Black Rock Lodge in late December 2011. The facilities, food, staff and surroundings were all excellent. The resort is located in an incredibly beautiful setting that is located about ten miles from the town of San Ignacio in the Cayo District of Belize. Rather than trying to "tame" the jungle with air... More
