I've traveled to a lot of places and this is my first review so I guess that says something about this place. This is probably one of the best places I've ever stayed. The grounds are breathtaking and it seriously feels like I'm in some movie like Lord of the Rings or Indiana Jones although my husband likes to remind... More

BRL is isolated in one of the most beautiful spots I've ever seen. Half an hour up a dirt road, you come to a little area of comfortable cabins surrounding a central open-air seating area and bar. The property has a great hike (we did the whole Vista Loop/Summit/Falls trail, finding iguanas and monkeys in the trees and enjoying incredible... More

We stayed here in the beginning of May 2013 for three days and we could have stayed longer! The property is so beautiful and everyone is so warm and friendly. The weather was perfectly hot in our opinion and it didn't rain once. While it's true you probably don't want to keep leaving the property to find food elsewhere, you... More

My friends and I spent three nights at Black Rock Lodge and I have few complaints. The location really is amazing, nestled along the river bluffs. We hiked the entire trail network our first morning; the Vista Loop trail was especially scenic. The second day, the lodge organized the ATM tour, which I also highly recommend. The staff were great,... More

We decided to go to Belize as a "bucket list" fulfillment - tropical rain forest, scuba diving, and blue hole. (See other review for Pelican Reef, scuba and blue hole.) We stayed at Black Rock Lodge for the first part of our trip. It certainly exceeded my expectations. This is the first trip hubby's planned (as that has been my... More

We went to Black Rock as it looked like it was the most rural lodge and had good views for birding. We are not hard core birders but enjoy the experience. We chose correctly. At first my husband thought we wouldn't see that many birds but this turned out to be wrong. Our cabin was the last one going toward... More

The other reviews of Black Rock speak for themselves - its a wonderful place. What I want to mention is the really superb service. They genuinely try to make sure every guest is taken care of and has the opportunity to explore and enjoy the variety of experiences available in the area. The work behind-the-scenes is excellent as well.

I struggle with the star system on trip adviser. The Black Rock Lodge was a great experience which I highly recommend, but 5 stars to me means it is perfect. BRL was not perfect and so had to go with 4. I think if I could give it a 4.5 I would feel that is more accurate. So onto the... More

We stayed here for three nights and also booked a cabin for my son and his wife for two nights. To enter the lodge is an experience in itself. Seven miles of extremely rocky and bumpy road that will take about 30 minutes to navigate. At night it is very scary and some parts are very narrow. Upon arrival we... More
