I agree with many of the less than stellar reviews of the hotel, but am surprised that many gave three circles anyway. This place will take you back to the 80's quickly. There is a mauve, grape and burgundy color scheme that gets tiresome quickly. The room (510) is small, so there is no room for a bedside table on... More

We chose this hotel because it was the only hotel on the island that would let us book just 1 night on a weekend. There were 4 of us and we wanted 1 room. The room we had was huge! It was basically 2 rooms but with no wall separating the 2 rooms. The beds were OK, not the best... More

We could not have been more satisfied. Right location, right roof top patio, lovely old mansion type establishment. We loved it. Plan to be back in the future. Avalon is a typical old island town. This property fits right in.

The view from our room was of another room but the view from the public balcony was not only very open but awesome. We had a great time here, the staff was nice and the hotel was clean. There wasn't anything fancy about this hotel but it wasn't too expensive either. It is a little bit of walk to the... More

Very inviting and friendly staff, decent coffee in the morning between 8-10am, great view from the 6th floor communal deck, comfortable bed, nice view from our window and quite strong water pressure in the shower. We had a great time so close to Avalon. This place is definitely in the heart of any and all action in Avalon... walking distance... More

This hotel should really be called a bed and breakfast MINUS the breakfast. Its a bedroom, a small dated bedroom at your grandma's house. Perhaps an old converted house with history. Cute distant view. But, there's no hotel feel. You can hear every word your neighbor says so whisper. Mom & pop service, however, mom is the only one running... More

We stayed at the St. Lauren during one of their renovation periods. I was happy to see that they were doing what they could to better the hotel but, still, it is an older hotel and it shows. The curtains were very worn and the decor was very dated. The staff was friendly so I gave it an average score... More

I can't say I hated the hotel, the rooms were a bit out dated and aged but we slept well and had the most beautiful view from the 6th Floor Deck! I wouldn't tell you to stay away but I will tell you not to expect a lot. The staff was very friendly though!

The St. Lauren is a dated hotel with small rooms and very few amenities. Our room (502) was extremely small with really enough room for only the king sized bed, but still had a desk and a chair. Bring your shower shoes for the small and dirty bathroom (moldy grout and hair in the sink). Make sure to also bring... More

The guests were upset with the size of her room at check-in. The days in question the hotel was sold out and we were unable to put the guest in a larger room. The Hotel St. Lauren was built new in 1987. There is only one other hotel in Avalon that was built new before 1990. No new hotels have... More

My sister and I took advantage of Groupon for the Catalina Flyer and the St.Lauren for a quick overnight get away. Gale force winds turned this into an extra night stay! We were pleasantly surprised when the hotel offered us the 'stranded' rate of $50! And our room was moved to one with a balcony with ocean view. Friendly, quiet,... More
