I've been a regular visitor to DC since 2009, working with the lgbt advocacy community. Stumbled onto Hotel Madera as part of the Kimpton family of hotels. Since then, the Madera has become our home away from home. The service is amazing - everyone treats us like family. My wife is handicapped due to M.S., and everyone goes out of... More

We booked this hotel weeks before our roadtrip from Boston to NYC to Washington, D.C.. Based on the reviews I've read it seemed like a good hotel at very good price. I must SHOCKED to find that it wasn't what it seemed. 8 of us on the trip trip were greeted by a very rude late night front desk person.... More

Dear 403Singh_13, So sorry! After reading your comments I am concerned this happened to you. As you can see from other reviews, our service is stellar and the reason why our Guests keep coming back to the Madera. This is definately not the norm for us. I assure you we are taking your feedbac kseriously for retraining. We hope we... More

Close to transportation and places to eat. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were there during the inauguration and the front desk took the time to help us make reservations at local restaurants. They had cookies when we would return at night. I would stay here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights. It was a complete guess as I have never been to Washington before. Lucky find. It is only a few hundred yards from the DuPont Circle south Metro entrance. The area is full of restaurants, coffee shops etc. There is a 24-hour pharmacy just around the corner and it is a 2 or 3 minute... More

The Good: Really helpful, efficient desk staff. Easy check in and good service. Spacious, clean and very functional rooms----minimalist--with some of the Kimpton colorful flair--- but all you need for a business trip. Excellent central location near lots of shops and restaurants. Their awesome staff really should have more pleasant surroundings to work in. Which leads me to the bad...... More

Dear Anthropologie, I loved the good of your visit. The bad though is want we need to fix. Yes you are correct the lobby and public space areas are small and cozy. We are not the grand large hotel compared to others. Many of our Guests love this fact. It creates a home away from home feeling. But if you're... More

Wife and I have stayed at this hotel several times before. we like the location, the neighborhood, and the nearby Metro. I liked the milk and cookies they used to serve at night, but this is not currently offered. The check-in was challenging. If you travel with your dog or cat, you will like this hotel. If you have allergies to animal dander, stay away. This is a pet-friendly chain that allows dogs to hang around the lobby with their owners, with animals often sitting on upholstered chairs in lobby. As always this Kimpton hotel did not disappoint. It is in a great location near Dupont Circle and walkable to other attractions. The rooms are a good size and though the bathroom was small it did not detract from the room overall. We had a corner room and some of the rooms have balconies, which are rare in DC. The... More

Great hotel in great location! Wonderfully helpful and fun staff in both the hotel and the restaurant. Loved the sense of humour of the animal print bathrobes!
