Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First, let me state that this was not a universally unpleasant stay for my wife and me. I chose this hotel as it was directly across from the larger and more expensive Marriot at which we were to attend an event. The Henley staff was quite pleasant and friendly and the hotel itself was clean and well kept. They did attend to our room every day. However, there are some things to be aware of. The room was quite small. One single queen bed. No small refrigerator to keep drinks. No microwave. No mirror outside the bathroom if needed to help everyone get ready for the day. The windows did not seal well and the external cold air (this is in February) leaked profusely into the room. This hotel states that it provides valet Parking. but it is not well suited for that. If you drive to this destination you need to be aware of some associated challenges. They use a parking garage at the other end of the block. You CAN park there yourself but your in/out privileges are limited without associated charges. Valet parking (at $52/day) had unlimited in/out privileges. The hotel has a very short and narrow U-shaped front drive facing Massachusetts Ave. On the side along 10th street they have a very short stretch along the curb where they can stage valet cars. The three days that we stayed there most all those 10th street spots were taken (but I am not sure by whom). For a couple of those days they were having some work done in the front of the hotel and blocked off the front drive. The side spots were taken as well. When we returned from an outing I could NOT find a spot to temporarily put my car for the valet service and had to call them to let them know I was circling the block in search of a place to land. This location is downtown and the traffic is generally quite busy. They also appear to have only one Bellhop on duty at a time to handle both luggage and valet service. I was also told that I should call down to the front desk to let them know that I needed my car so that when I came down to the front lobby the car would be there or on its way. I tried that multiple times but the line was always busy. So, I always had to go down to request the car. Their restaurant is nicely appointed and the food was good. Again, their staffing appears limited and once we got our food, the waiter never checked back to see if we needed anything or to refill my $4 tea. At the time, the restaurant was not very crowded. We still tipped well but noted the service issue. Depending on your expectations, the hotel is not a bad value and will be less challenging if you do not arrive in a personal or rented car that you will use frequently while staying there.

This was a perfect location for walking everywhere in DC! I went for business and squeezed in all the sights too. Hotel was a lovely little place. Restaurant was terrible but lots of excellent restaurants nearby.

Stayed one night only but I liked this hotel. We interacted with 5 staff and all were friendly and helpful, valet parking was efficient and the room was quiet, clean, spacious and well decorated. The hotel serves as a good location for Ford’s Theatre.

The hotel service was good nice, door men to open the door and staff to greet when you arrive. The rooms are nicely done with a comfy bed and pillows and hot shower. Very quiet at all times and didn’t hear much street noise. Our only complaints is the shower had so much pressure it almost hurt to have it hitting you.

Great little hotel with a fantastic classic bar. Beds so comfortable, room & bathroom spanking clean & large, temperature easy to control and worked very well. All staff friendly and professional. Had breakfast there. Restaurant is beautiful and intimate but didn't get helped very quickly due to only two wait staff. Food a tad pricey for what you got. Coffee excellent but bagel wasn't great. I had the yogurt parfait, which was good. Will visit again and hope to stay longer. So much more intimate than the huge chain hotel across the street.

A four-day stay during a conference at the nearby Walter E. Washington Convention Centre. Front desk was very helpful. Historic building adds to the charm of the hotel, much preferred as compared to other modern hotel nearby.

Why you have a person that don’t speak English in the front desk? A lady that was working during the day with the name Marbelle, she have to improve her costumer service and also her English language, she was extremely disrespectful and was talking about us in Spanish with others guests she was very unprofessional.

I stayed at the Henley Park Hotel, part of the Historic Hotels of America. Bed infested with bedbugs. After the first night woke up with red marks on my back and fingers. Second night around 3:30am, felt a pinch on the back on my right ear. Woke up to find a huge bedbug on my pillow. Called staff and they removed it. Later, manager told me “It was only one”. Highly unlikely it was only one. Regardless, one is enough. They refused to give me a full refund. Which is what I deserve for the nights of agony. I had to get another hotel as I could not sleep in their beds.

Landed here because the room block at the convention center was full for one of the days of my event - it's right across the street. But I was familiar with it as a historic property member of Historic Hotels of America. Check-in was easy - doorman and bellman were on point, anticipatory with storing bags. Water station in the lobby and a beautiful lounge off to the side. Public areas very well maintained - didn't get a chance to try out the bar/restaurant, but I appreciated the ambiance consistent with the Tudor Revival design. Room floors were impeccable; step off the elevator and it could be confused for a modern construction (with classical decor). In room, plush carpets, even paint, tasteful crown moulding, interesting layout consistent with buildings of its age, but furnished thoughtfully to make the most of it. I think it probably could have benefitted from a sitting chair - seemed to be enough space to make it work. A/C had a loud squeal for the first couple seconds when it kicked on - may have been specific to my room. Beds were comfortable. Pretty standard upscale bath products and linens. I left an item behind and the desk agent/housekeeping were helpful in retrieving it when i returned. In all, a great way to inject a little warmth and charm into your business travel if visiting the Marriott or convention center.
