What's not to be in awe of. Beautifully restored, allowing for spacious rooms, great service, chic walk through history, and in the center of where you need to be in DC! Outstanding on every level!

I'm sitting in my room right now and the sidewalk is about 5 feet over my head. I'm sure it's a lovely hotel if your not kept in the dungeon which they lightly call the 1st floor.

This hotel is in a great location in the middle of downtown DC, across the street from the National Portrait Gallery. It is in a historic building with plenty of marble, iron railings on stairwells with intricate designs, etc. The Monaco has a quirky side to it--the furniture, the entrance, everything is a little odd but in a good way.... The room was nice. Maybe I expected a bit more for a 4star hotel. They had a patio with restaurant/cafe in center and at night they played music till 12am and I could not sleep. Rooms need to be sound proof or music turned down. Other than that the experience was good.

We had a great deal through GroupOn and thus got our room for less than $175 per night. Well worth it. But a couple of things to note -- the lobby is on the ground floor but that's the 2nd floor and if you are assigned a room on the first floor, it's below ground level. Didn't bother me but... More

This property is convenient to metro station, Smithsonian, sports arena, china town and a number of restaurants from chains to high quality independents. Hotel has a complimentary wine hour. Hotel also has a very fine restaurant called Poste. Lovely courtyard when weather is good. Altogether a very nice property. I've never had a bad experience at any Kimpton property. I... More

I have come to learn that you can depend on Kimptons to be consistently very very good. The hotel is in a historic building, an old post office. I was a little worried about staying in an old building, as they can seem worn out unless renovated and maintained very well. Well - I thought this was one of those... More

Just got back from a weekend in DC and loved our stay at The Kimpton Hotel Monaco. We had a room on the 4th floor facing 7th and it was totally quiet. The bed was very comfortable, the room was beautiful and the complimentary wine at 5PM was a really nice touch. The hotel has a wonderful courtyard and we... More

I stayed here just one night for work. Room, amenities and service were all excellent. I particularly liked the complimentary happy hour drinks in the afternoon. Only drawback - and not insignificant - was the noise coming from the hotel bar at night. It was very loud very late into the night. Not ideal when trying to get some sleep... More

if you want a smaller hotel with atmosphere, great service and a fantastic outdoor terrace with bar this is the place. I flew during my birthday on business and when I arrived I was greeted by a small birthday cake, card and bottle of Champagne! That sums up the service of most of the kimpton hotels!

Happy Birthday Mav1244! Excited to read that we were able to make this one a little extra special - hopefully you'll be back with us again before next year! (We love Poste Patio too. So great in the summertime!) Cheers Ed More
