The second of our lodges on the QCT, it was certainly a memorable stay. Given the beauty of the track, for the lodge view to be better is saying something. It is a bit of a walk from the track itself, but well worth the effort. Our room was up the hill and the view back to the sound spectacular.... More

We spent 3 days and nights hiking on the Queen Charlotte Track, staying at a different small hotel or B & B each night. Mahana Lodge was not only the best of the 3 by far but one of the top places we stayed during a 5 week trip to New Zealand. We prefer small inns and hotels and really... More

We stayed at Mahana Lodge just before Christmas for one night when we were walking the QCT. Fabulous setting at the water's edge. Our room in the lodge was very comfortable and had every thing we needed, including a deck and clothes rack to hang dirty walking trousers. The kitchen and lounge areas were great and there were delicious home... More

A friend and I stayed here for one night at the end of March while hiking the Queen Charlotte Track. The property is really amazing, lakeside with great views of water and mountains. They even have their own glow worm grotto just a couple minutes walk from the lodge! The property is not directly on the QCT, you will leave... More

We stayed here for one night while hiking the Queen Charlotte Track. The hosts are delightful, the place is charming, and the outside dinner setting was unbeatable. We had Manuka smoked salmon served in the flower laden outside dining room. The best salmon I have ever eaten! John and Ann are wonderful hosts. Do not miss the Glow Worms only... More

If you’re walking the Queen Charlotte track or spending time in the Marlborough Sounds treat yourself to a night or two at this unique B&B. The owners, John and Ann, have created extremely beautiful gardens with many blooming flowers around their property, and the overall feel of the place, which emanates from them, is warmth and peacefulness. The accommodations are... More

We had an excellent experience at the Mahana. The room was very nice but the dinner was spectacular! We ate in the garden - had an organic dinner that was fabulous. Highly recommend it! The service was wonderful. Great location right on the water!

The dinner was simply wonderful and fresh from their garden! What an absolute treat! The couple were lovely and really took care of us. The view is stunning from a postcard. We rested well after a day of hiking. Then we were fresh and ready to go. We were in a house up the hill a bit and I enjoyed... More

Enjoyed 3 days of Rest n Recuperation. Unlike a previous comment about their stay in the STUDIO I found it quite the opposite. Extremely comfortable, no mosquitoes or sand-flies. Definitely outdoors. I have been back to Mahana Homestead Lodge 4 times, 3 times when it was a Back Packers & 1 since thy became a B & B. I was... More

The location and grounds of Mahana Lodge are for sure gorgeous as the whole area of Marlborough Sounds is. We stayed in the studio for one night on our way doing the entire QC Track. The studio accommodation is located behind the lodge and the owners’ house. You cannot see the Sounds from here. The studio’s interior seemed really old-fashioned... More

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your time at Mahana. As can be seen from the other reviews, we do all we can to ensure that guests’ experiences are as pleasurable as possible. It was unfortunate that you wanted to cook your own dinner. As is normal practice with B&Bs, we do not provide cooking facilities for any... More
