We are a family who stayed here in two tents at the beginning of August. The Tent Village is on a caravan/campsite next to the Visitor Centre for the Katherine Gorge. They are very cheap, but very basic with no electricity, so you MUST take a torch for the evenings. You pay a deposit to get your bedding (2 sheets and a thin blanket) and then make the beds up. When booking, the tents are advertised as sleeping 2, but actually they sleep 3. Two people each have a single bed with a thin foam mattress, and the third has a campbed. What is NOT mentioned in the website is that if two of you have booked a tent, you may be allocated a third person to share with (prices are per person, not per tent). This happened to the people in the tent next to us - a female backpacker found herself sharing with two surprised male bikers. Fortunately they got on alright, but we do not think this is a safe practice and think this possibility should be highlighted on the website so that people have the option...
