We had a wonderful one night stay at this B&B, we stayed here in 2 rooms (with family from the UK coming to visit us in NZ). The 4 of us had such a warm welcome from Jay and Austen, with a welcoming cuppa and homemade biscuits on arrival on the sunny porch overlooking the lovely garden. The rooms we... More

Stayed one night to see the penguins. Easy to find on a relatively quiet road. The parking on the gravel drive ( not dirt as one reviewer states ) is fine. The house looks smart but of course is old. Inside is a little dark but fine. Austin and Jay are good hosts. They are hoping to sell and move... More

You'll like staying here. Jay and Austin take great care of their home and of you. They are a wealth of info about Oamaru and surrounding area.....be sure to get Austin's directions to the Moeraki rocks and lighthouse. Jay is a great cook.

We stayed just one night in the largest ground floor room, which was ever so cold and the bed hard and uncomfortable. The en suite bathroom was so small, cramped and old....shabby furnishings...not very nice at all. The owners were super though, and the breakfast great.

This is one of the few original victorian private homes left in Oamaru and due to Jay´s and Austen´s maintenance and preservation this home can be truely called an architectural heritage. Jay recommended to us a couple of blue eyed penguin observation spots off the beaten track. And late at night at one of these spots the battery of our... More

Jay and Austen looked after us very well in their beautiful victorian home. The large bedroom was very comfortable and the breakfast delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by Oamaru which has a unique collection of 'whitestone' historic buildings offering an insight into a living Victorian town at work.

We didn't expect much from Oamaru, it was meant to be a stop between Dunedin and Christchurch and the 3 restaurants we wanted to eat at (fleurs, loan & merc and riverstone) were closed due to christmas/NY break. But it turned out to be such a fun kooky town, with so much authenticity and history to offer. Best of all... More

I took my staff to Oamaru Creek for our Christmas dinner. What a treat. We had canapés in their lovely garden which has a stream running thru. Delicious Parmesan baskets, crostinis with thinly sliced fillet of beef, poached baby leeks wrapped in prosciutto and petite salmon wraps. We all sat down at the Dining room table to be served entree... More

I usually agree with almost all TripAdvisor reviews, but I didn't agree here. The room looked nothing like it did on e website. And it really lacked privacy, which I know can be tough to get in a bed and breakfast, but this was difficult. The room was in the front of the house and we heard everything going on... More

We had a very enjoyable 2 night stay at the Oamaru B & B. The room we stayed in was beautiful with plenty of nice light coming through the windows in the morning. The breakfasts were very enjoyable and Austin has the coffee down to an art. Austin and Jay couldn't have been more helpful in giving us information on... More
