Three of us stayed here in a triple room and were really impressed by the lovely owner and super clean spacious accommodation. Very handy to walk into town and a very short drive to the penguins and look out point. Would stay again without hesitation. PS - Oamaru is a lesser publicised gem. Go on a weekend if you can... We can recommend Midway Motel, we stayed for 11 nights. Ken and Karen give a first class friendly service, as nothing was too much trouble. We found the accomodation clean, spacious and well located to all local amenities and activities. Stuart and Carole, Sheffield England. More

We had not pre booked this motel and found it by chance the owners originally from the UK had made sure that each suite had a lovely comfortable atmosphere with comfortable arm chairs in each room and a gas fire which we needed after going to watch the blue penguins that evening. We had the best nights sleep ever during... More

Although this motel is an older establishment, it has lovely big rooms and is set well back on the main road. It is a 2-storey building and we were upstairs - did not hear much road noise. It is well-priced and they every conceivable thing you could need in the kitchen, plus a decent sized 'fridge. A queensize bed, plus... More

Externally , looks like hundreds of other motels, however, Studios are roomy clean, well equipped whilst location ,though on main street ( set well back ) is very handy to central Oamaru. Managers very " hands on" people, who once met, would convince you to stay with them on any subsequent visits. Very good value so do not hesitate to... More

We had a two-bedroom unit. It was satisfactory but the place is getting old - e.g. the shower head could not be adjusted to go high enough. Internet access was unreliable. The owner was very friendly. More

We stayed in this very nice town for two days and we had a very good stay with Ken and Karen White. They were so friendly and the price for the rooms were great. The rooms were clean and well equipped. If , or probably when, we come back to New Zealand we will come back to this motel. Eva... More

As others have said, an old school motel, but well kept, clean and comfortable. It's on the main road, but set well back, so it's quiet, and the heavy curtains keep the rooms dark at night. It's well placed for the Victorian precinct, but you'd best take the car to the penguins. We didn't try the breakfast, because the Whitestone... More

This was a great wee motel, a good price for us and we were pleased that we made the choice. Karen is super friendly and professional and her experience showed with all the handy tips about how to set up the room for us and our daughter, where to eat etcetc. Just around the corner from Whitestone Cheese Factory, a... Lots of motels in Oamaru and other NZ towns have good basics. This one goes a bit beyond to ensure a comfortable stay for the weary traveler. More
