Beautiful views, comfortable bed and great showers, although downstairs so had to walk past kitchen and main hang out areas trying not to drop everything! Overall a good stay! More

You always know what you are getting with a YHA... small room, noisy doors slamming and footsteps above at all hours of the morning. It has a beautiful sea view however but it is far from the main town centre. It was very tidy but nothing to write home about More

Was here for a few nights and had a great stay. Was in a quad sharing dorm with bunk beds. Room was comfortably large and had a big window overlooking the ocean and mountains in the background. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped me make arrangements for a fishing trip and a stargazing tour. The kitchen was well... More

Generally speaking, be careful of where you stay in NZ if you are traveling without a car. This hostel is a good 2 miles to the train station and the center of town. However, the little hotel/restaurant that is about a 3 minute walk away is FANTASTIC and receives my highest recommendation. I had some of my best meals in... More

Dark, small and unappealing ensuite room. Overpriced unless you really want to use the kitchen and other YHA style facilities. Clean and well located with a nice view from the common area. Service was gruff. More

We stayed one night in a (smallish) twin room. The beds were very comfortable and the hostel was quiet (at least when we were there). The lounge and dining room have fantastic views over the ocean and the kitchen is well equipped although small. It is not too far round the point to go to the Seafood BBQ which did... More

This place is perfectly located. I was initially going to stay at another hostel but was told by a friend I had to stay here, so I listened and am so glad I did! I was greeted by Fiona, the Duty Manager, on my arrival. Check in was smooth and we had a good chat which was nice. I stayed... More

We had a fantastic time at this hostel with amazing views across the bay. Our bedroom was at the back and was very comfortable & quiet (wooden alpine theme). The kitchen has all the equipment you would require. More

Great hostel with fab ocean views, staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious, facilities are large and clean! Only downside is that its about a 30 minute walk into the little town area where the shops and main eateries are, however there are some eateries located nearer to the hostel. More

The views out the front can't be beat, and the hostel is kept in great shape. It's a long walk to the main part of town, and the better/cheaper grocery store (New World) is beyond walking distance, but it's a great choice if you have a car. More
