I do feel horrible not giving this a higher rating, especially since our hosts Richard and Lorraine were so kind and hospitable. However, I think a confluence of factors, including over-hyped expectations, miscommunication, and less than favourable weather led to this trip being a little sub-par. I think most other reviewers have touched on the very positive aspects of this... More

My Partner and I stayed at Merribrook during a road trip around south WA. We had been staying with her sister and family in Perth and were looking for our own space for a bit and some peace and quiet to chill out. We certainly achieved that, though were woken in the morning not by children but by the kookaburras!... More

As part of planning our honeymoon, touring Western Australia in a camper van, we were looking for a few days of luxury away from the open road. Merribrook instantly jumped out at us. Both Lorraine and Kylie were very helpful and enthusiastic when we phoned from the UK. Before we even arrived, we were very excited about our stay. Merribrook... More

Merribrook Retreat is in a beautiful, peaceful and quiet location. Our host Lorraine and Richard are very friendly and it's like staying with good friends. Our room was luxurious overlooking the lake and a short walk to the main house. Breakfast is amazing with the usual cereal, freshly made fruit salad, yoghurts, different varieties of bread and spreads. Then there's... More

I'm having a post-Merribrook come down after 2 magical nights with my partner celebrating our 1st Anniversary together :) This is my 2nd Visit to Merribrook and once again I could not flaw the quality of accommodation, amazing backdrop for long bush walks/lazy dinners, home cooked brekkies and of course the exceptional service from staff with special mentions to the... Had a fabulous three day stay with my husband to celebrate my birthday. It was such a nice touch to have a birthday card in our room from the hosts. Even with other people staying at Merribrook it was so peaceful. Lorraine was such a happy and welcoming host. Breakfasts were wonderful and we enjoyed the view of the lake... More

Stayed for three nights at this beautiful peaceful resort right in the heart of the wineries. Chalets were well equipped, clean and serviced like lightning in the mornings whilst we were enjoying the delicious breakfast by the lake! Highlight was a kangaroo hopping past our bedroom window early in the morning! Would Love to have stayed longer.

We had 3 lovely nights staying at Merribrook and loved it. Very relaxing and quiet. 10 rammed earth chalets on the property and beautiful, well looked after gardens. We did comment that they didn't have any air-conditioning but the owners said that the South West of WA doesn't usually get that hot - even though our 3 days were in... More

My partner and I stayed at Merribrook for our 2 year anniversary the first weekend in February. On the drive in you begin to get a sense of peace and tranquility away from traffic and towns. Lorraine was very welcoming and helpful as I'd never been to Margaret River before. The lakeview lodges have a beautiful view to wake up... More

We stayed at Merribrook for three nights between Christmas and New Years, 2011. We enjoyed it very much and it was the highlight of our trip to the Margaret River region. The retreat is set within a lush valley that is absolutely quiet, other than the sounds of exotic birds throughout the day and frogs at night. We stayed in... More
