Gecko's Rest, located in the Mackay's CBD, is the cheapest way to stay in Mackay. The hostel is spacious, there is a TV room, large kitchen, lounge room, laundry room and an entertaining on the roof deck. It is close to all amenities.

I stayed there for a few months its the place to be the owners and stuff are friendly and make u feel at home and are helpful with everything. I would advise everyone to stay at this place its were it all happens...

Party place at weekends (party till early morning, no supevision). Loud and strange people. Ugly kitchen. Rooms quite big with AC, although no window. Good localisation.

I stayed here for a few nights in April and was not impressed at all. The price is cheap but then so is the hostel.
