You experience the hospitality and friendliness of Tonic before you even arrive, with new owners Ian and Janelle happy to share their knowledge of the area and its produce. Hints and tips for great places to eat and wineries to visit. My three girlfriends and I were off to the Hunter for the Lovedale Long Lunch so we stayed in... More

We loved our stay at Tonic Hotel - as a first-timer to the Hunter Valley, it really made my stay. Ian and Janelle were fabulous hosts - so friendly and welcoming; nothing was too much trouble. We were hugely impressed with the quality of the accommodation - the Lodge was perfect for friends (or a couple of couples) travelling together,... More

Huge bathroom with Aesop body products and a tub that can just fit two and beautiful bath salts. The location is spitting distance from a range of wineries and the fantastic Leaves and Fishes restaurant but feels a million miles away. Yummy breakfasts are also included and kept for you in the fridge though I couldn't wait til morning for... More

Arriving just in time to see the beautiful sunset over the lush green rolling hills of the Hunter Valley was the perfect start to a weekend getaway. Tonic delivered all that was promised, a very stylish and spacious room with a private deck, the most comfortable bed with luxurious linen, flat screen TV and great sound system with iPod docking... Set on a beautiful secluded property with idyllic views accross dreamy paddocks, Tonic did not fail to impress. The rooms are modern minimalist, but at the same time felt warm and welcoming. The concept of being able to buy most items from your room is a fun novelty, and we came home with a gorgeous knitted toy monkey as a... More

We stayed at Tonic for one night for our first anniversary as I had seen Tonic in a brochure a few years ago and had been keen to stay there ever since. There is so much to love about Tonic. The gorgeous and unique interior design and the picture perfect outlook are standouts. The deck chairs by the dam are... More

Have to agree with some of the other reviews on here that while Tonic is nice and definitely very seculded/private it is not worth the $360 a night we paid, i would never usually spend this much for 1 night in a hotel and was really quite dissappointed. For that amount of money charging extra for you to cook your... More

After reading the good reviews about Tonic, we were excited about our stay. Overall, it was good, but it definitely wasn't worth the $320 a night that we paid. The location is beautiful and the rooms overlook the water. It was very peaceful and we even saw some kangaroos at dusk. Unfortunately, it seemed like the owners were cutting corners,... More

Hi Thank you for your review. I am glad that your overall experience was positive, and I thank you for bringing to my attention the details that disappointed you. We have 2 different rates - $320 for midweek and $425 for weekends, hotels work on a supply and demand scale and rates reflect this. The rate reflects the area, the... More

We arrived at Tonic to discover a very cool, chic and inviting place! The room was spotless and after the drive the bed was a welcome relief before the Concert. You felt like there was no one else around, and we regret not having stayed the 2 nights. We chose not to have the breakfast the next morning, as we... More

My husband and I just stayed two nights at Tonic Hotel for our 'babymoon'. We really wanted this break to be a luxurious one so when I read reviews from Mr and Mrs Smith's Hotel Collection and trip advisor, I thought this is just what we need.. Tonic is situated on a large, stark property, and although it is secluded,... More
