On arrival we were made to feel very welcome after a lengthy drive, lovely beer for my fiance and wine for myself with complimentary cheese and crackers. Loved the mod cons, our room was cosy and impeccably clean. Quiet and in a convenient location. As we are required to travel here every 6 months for appointments at John Hunter, we... More

I am not normally a fan of B&B's but this set up is really excellent (B&B is separated from main dwelling very nicely) and very non-intrusive, the service is very good and the hosts are really great - and it is a good location. I had to go on to Sydney for business via the train (which is really simple... More

This lovely B & B is close to Beaumont st which is full of wonderful restaurants, close to the entertainment centre and the wonderful farmers markets. We have stayed at the lovely, modern B & B at least 5 times over the past 5 years and have never been disappointed. The rooms are spacious, modern and very comfortable and quiet... More

We both had our reservations about staying in a B&B but this B&B sure impressed us. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted a glass of wine or beer as well as a cheese platter. We drove up for one night stay to put our not so comfortable car in a car show with prior warning, they even... More

I stayed here as I was unable to book into my usual Newcastle motel. A very new, modern bed and breakfast that is both very clean and close to Beaumont Street. The bed was reasonable comfortable but the bar fridge was quite noisy during the night and kept me awake. After a fairly bad night's sleep, I thought I would... More

We went from Brisbane to Sydney and had a stop at the ChaucerPalms for a few days. We very much enjoyed our stay there because the units are really high standard with spacious room and a spa alike bathroom and the balcony (or terrace) is making the accommodation perfect. Also hospitality was fantastic - Julie is really taking care and... More

I will never stay at Chaucer Palms again. The previous owners were lovely, not inquisitive and always happy to make your stay perfect and served a delicious COOKED breakfast with lots of choices. The new owners advertise on their website: 'sumptuous cooked breakfast from extensive menu included.' The only cooked item available is a defrosted, heated in the microwave ham... More

Chaucer Palms advertising is consistent with our service offerings. We serve a range of tasty hot and cold breakfasts from fresh wholesome produce, including fresh croissants which are sourced from our local Hamilton bakers. Breakfast is available at times to suit guests between 7-8am weekdays and 8-9am on relaxing weekends. Special dietary requirements and times are catered for with reasonable... More

Went to Newcastle for work and stayed in Chaucer Palms for 4 nights - definitely a place I would recommend for anyone who is going to Newcastle. The spa room was clean and had nice layout. The spa was also amazing. It was winter but the floor of the bathroom wasn't cold (not sure what material the tiles were made... More

Travelling to Newcastle for work, I stayed here on my own and I was very happy I'd chosen Chaucer Palms. I felt it certainly qualified for the boutique tag. My room upstairs was extemely clean and comfortable, no tea and coffee in room but I had only to pop downstairs and help myself which made sense as it's a small... More

We have just returned from a night in Chaucer Palms B&B. We have stayed in many hotels, apartments and B&Bs and were very disappointed with our choice this time. Room was lovely and clean. The bed - a kingsize- had a gaping hole down the middle where the two kingsingles had been put together....not at all comfortable or romantic as... More
