we stayed here for two nights and our host Ray was very friendly and helpful. It was a short walk into town and an even shorter walk to the lake. Our room was comfortable and the breakfast, prepared by Ray himself, delicious. It was a good location for our trip to Milford Sound, best place in Te Anau! More

We stayed at Shakespeare House for one night and had a lovely time. Ray the owner was so welcoming and would do anything for you. The bed was really comfortable and warm. The location was perfect for us because we loved the 10 minute walk along the water after dinner to get back to our room. Breakfast in the morning... More

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights with our 5 month old infant enroute to Milford Sound. The owners were really accommodating and great. The breakfast was delicious. I recommend the omelet. The place was a 2 minute walk from the lake and a 10 minute walk from the town center and restaurants. I really liked the location because... More

We stayed at the Shakespears House after doing the Milford Track, but we booked this B&B lots of time earlier because of the reviews, and we've to say that it was even better then it looked on the ne. The photos on trip advisor from the rooms don't give the precise impression of them, they are really great, quiet and... More

Quiet location at the border of the town. It takes around 15 minutes walking to the center with its restaurants, shops and information center. Ray the owner is really a very kind and funny host. Gorgeous and rich breakfast. Probably the best breakfast we had in New Zealand. The rooms are big and very clean. More

We stayed at Shakespeare House for 3 nights. As others have commented, Ray is a very outgoing, enthusiastic and friendly host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. There are about 8 rooms at Shakespeare House and I think we were lucky that we got the front room, overlooking the road with our own entrance and lots of windows to... More

Recently stayed two nights here and enjoyed our stay very much. Ray, the host, was very helpful. He had excellent recommendations for where to eat and what to do. We had a trip booked in Milford Sounds and Ray recommended places to visit along the way and he was spot on, very wonderful places. After reading all the reviews about... More

Stayed two nights at Shakespeare House and the moment we arrived we were welcomed like we had arrived home. Our room was very clean and very comfortable. Ray the host was very helpful and with his local knowledge we walked in some of the most beautiful scenery we have seen. The breakfast is extensive and is the best breakfast we... More

If you looking for a good, clean, budget accommodation in Te Anau then Shakespeare House B&B is a perfect choice for you. Added with the excellent breakfast it provides along with travel tips from the owner made it perfect. Initially I was surprised with the size of the room but it all worked well for us in the end. Shakespeare House is a bit quirky. Most of the rooms open onto an internal glass fronted area, a bit like a conservatory or garden room containing lounging areas of chairs and table with local information in abundance. Beyond this is the parking area. Ray is a great host, always willing to oblige and cooking superb New Zealand breakfasts to your... More
