To be in this hotel was really a succes. It was an excellent election and we were lucky to have the opportunity to be at George's house. The building is very peculiar and the rooms and common areas of the hotel very nice as well but the best was, by far, George and his particular way to make you feel... More

The once convent, that the host George had moved to his land, was a very peaceful and charming place to stay. He and his staff are excellent hosts. A very comfortable guest Lounge complete with books on every subject also wine, tea, coffee and cakes to help oneself too complete a delightful stay. More

We stayed at the Te Anau Lodge for two nights in November, 2011, drawn primarily by its history as a convent. The true charm of this place, however, is the host, George. The rooms are small, but comfortable; the hospitality is large and warm. A guest lounge, complete with wine, coffee, tea, and muffins, provided a wonderful place for us... More

My husband and friends stayed at this B & B for only one night-much too short! George, the host, and his staff do a wonderful job. The lodge itself is so lovely and interesting, being a convent in a previous life. It is set on a lovely property that is so well maintained. You will feel so at home when... More

We only stayed one night on our self-drive holiday in New Zealand. We stayed in Te Anau having left Queenstown and wanting accommodation handy to Manipouri where we were taking a Doubtful Sound cruise. Te Anau is a charming small town with a number of interesting restaurants and Te Anau Lodge is equally charming and interesting. It is situated just... More

We spent 2 nights in the upstairs deluxe room and although expensive, it was worth every penny! The room was spacious and beautifully decorated but it was the views of the lake that really wowed us. Our two hosts were so helpful and made us feel very welcome - they were more than happy to assist with washing and direction... More

This was a great B&B in Te Anau and the host - George - was incredibly welcoming during our short stay. We stayed in the Cathedral room which had wonderful views across the lake. I can't find fault with the rooms, the location, the lodge itself or the service, but the price is on the high side...compared to similar quality... More

We found Te Anau Lodge using a mobile phone app and made the call from Dunedin. Even on the phone I knew this place was different - George the owner was so friendly and welcoming. We actually traveled to Te Anau 6 hours early since we had such lovely accommodation. On arrival we were greeted by George and shown around... More

Thorougyly great place to stay, ran by wonderful people who could not do enough for you arranging our attractions and gong the extra mile all of the time. Great location and peaceful, with so many wonderful extras provided by the hosts. We went there in the winter and still had a great time, George on request arranged our helicopter ride... More

Te Anau Lodge was a delightful place to stay! The snow and rain did not hamper a wonderful few days. We did not get to Milford Sound but we discovered the wonders of Doubtful sound. George was a most hospitable host - not only is he a good cook, a reliable guide and a great taxi driver but also an... More
