We had a fantastic stay here on our honeymoon. All the rooms have spectacular views across the bay which is best admired in the early evening with a glass of wine and some of Jo's delicious pre-dinner nibbles. You have to be careful not to eat too many and to leave room for dinner! I cannot fault the room, breakfast... More

beautiful, well appointed, great hosts, fabulous drinks on the balcony in late afternoon, restful, quiet, bird lover's paradise, unparalleled view of the harbor, short hike up the hill to work off dinner at the Hotel restaurant. This is a honeymoon destination for sure, if you don't throw up too much crossing over on the ferry from Bluff. But even worth... More

Jack was in charge whilst Jo and Wayne had a day off and she was superb. She collected us when we arrived in town, made us welcome and it was drinks and snacks including green lipped mussels before our meal out. The room was good considering that every item has to be ferried over from the mainland. Comfortable rather than luxurious. The... More

This was our best lodging experience during our six week tour of New Zealand. An upscale B and B with beautiful views and gardens, within walking distance to town and the harbor. The rooms are very nicely laid out and the common room is just lovely. Jo and Wayne were wonderful hosts. Each evening, cocktails were served along with wonderful... More

The lodge is owned by Real Journeys (who also run the ferries and most of the island's tours), so Jo and partner are employees rather than owners, but there is no lack of commitment or attention to detail here. Rooms are comfortable hotel/motel standard rather than luxury lodge, and balcony and lounge are shared with other guests. You quickly get... More

This is a fantastic place, the hosts Jack couldn't do more for us. Showed around the island, arranged a surprise for my partner. The rooms where chilled out. Daily cocktails with other guests. A really, really nice place. Very friendly, great service, homely, professional and great food. More

We had no idea what to expect, but from the time Jo picked us up from the jetty until we were dropped off we had a fantastic time. The lodge is excellent, comfortable and well set up. The views are superb and the visiting wildlife (kaka and tui) a special treat. Breakfast is first class and the late afternoon drinks... More

When we stayed, "Jack" (sp) was our host, and a relatively new one at that. She was terrific. Wonderful person. The moment we exited the boat, we loaded our bags when I asked about the Kiwi night viewing. She immediately turned around and said "over there... quickly, they are about to leave." She then asked "what will you do for... More

Jo and Wayne are the consummate hosts; it is their hospitality that really makes this lovely lodge excel. Where do you start? Jo's warm greeting at the ferry for a drive up the hill to the lodge, to be treated to her wonderful afternoon treats with wine and beer, cheese and fruit, spring-rolls, her hand-rolled sushi (with the loveliest rose... One of the best lodge experiences we've had. Rooms are luxurious but homey, and the setting is unparalleled, but topping that are the hosts, Jo and Wayne, who spare no effort to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The afternoon drinks and appetizers were a highlight of the day (with the unexpected pleasure of interesting conversation with the other guests),... More
