Those familiar with the little village of Glenorchy will know that it is the nearest settlement to one end the famous Routeburn pass walking track. I stayed at the Glenorchy Hotel for one night. My room was clean and functional and was a good base for accessing the Routeburn track. We booked two nights at the Glenorchy Hotel but ended up staying only one night. It was overpriced for what you get - somewhat drab, outdated rooms, no kitchen or fridge. We checked out and found a room at the Mt. Earnslaw Motel which was cheaper than the GH and much nicer.
