We spent 3 nights in Punatapu's 3-bed family wing, which has a large comfortable living room with a snooker table, a master bed downstairs and two more bedrooms for kids upstairs. It also (sort of) has a kitchen down the end of the corridor closer to the main house: we were slightly put out to find one of the owners... More

Punatapu was our first stay in NZ on a month long hiking, biking, fly-fishing kayaking, bungee-jumping trip through both beautiful islands. The experience of Punatapu is to be taken into a family. We were profoundly touched by our time with Sue Farry, her son, Ben, and all the incredible staff. The home and grounds are astoundingly beautiful; nothing is overdone,... More

I have traveled throughout the world and there a few places as magical as the area around Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. Amidst the stunning natural environment is Punatapu. My family stayed there a few years ago and as stated in the other reviews, the hospitality was exceptional. We felt like we were staying with family, the food was sensational and... More

About 10 years ago my wife and I went to New Zealand and our visit included a stay at Punatapu lodge near Queenstown. We fell in love with New Zealand....and Punatapu. We have returned to New Zealand every year and have made sure that a stay at Punatapu was --is and will be ----a part of every visit. The setting... More

We have stayed at Punatapu on both of our trips to New Zealand in the last 5 years. It is the most exquisite property near Queenstown with outstanding service and the best dining experience we've ever had anywhere. Each room is unique and the common rooms are charming; filled with fascinating art and handsome decor throughout. Sue Farry and her... More

My wife and I, along with our two kids, stayed here for four nights and everything was perfect. It was luxurious and beautiful, the food was beyond comparison, and Sue and her son were perfect hosts, both helpful and entertaining. In fact, Sue saved our Milford Sound trip by rearranging a tour for us when it looked like bad weather... More

It was great experience for me. The lodge owner is very friendly and well hospitality. The restaurant providing a great Kiwi food - The the pre-dinner canapes were delightful. We had considered the other Harper recommended hotel, Blanket Bay, but I'm very glad we stayed at Punatapu. If New Zealand were not so far away, I'd go there at least... More

This place is as close to a travelers heaven as you will get. The rooms are unique and comfotrable. The grounds are astounding . All that is obscured by the wonderful food and the attention of Sue the hostess owner. Superior original art work is everywhere. Oh if only New zealand were closer. My wife and I found this place... During our recent trip to NZ, our stay at Punatapu was one of the most memorable parts of our trip. On arrival we were met by Sue Farry who made us feel so welcome. Our room was spacious and charming with french doors opening on to a private patio. The bath had magnificent views of the surrounding hills yet totally... More

If you care anything at all about people, places, food, atmosphere and general well-being then this place will affect you like no other place on earth. The setting is exquisite and unspoiled. The food and amenities are world-class without being stuffy or overbearing. Most importantly, entrust your itinerary and activities to Sue and her staff. You will be taken care... More
