I stayed here for 4 nights in their ensuite rooms, rooms are brand new, small and has everything needed. While the family unit we were in was basic it was fine. Lovely and warm, great shower. Super location easy walk to town. Staff were great. Spa was great. Excellent night security.... we had issues with noisy neighbors but the after-hours security guard happily sorted it for us. Would stay there again with no issues

The house cabin provided was not as we expected. The rooms and facilities are very basic and old conditions, the quilts and mattress cover are faded and smelly, fins heaters were provided but not so efficient (the electric blankets must be a complimentary, I guess), very small old TV with just 2 channels and bad receptions, the toilet and shower... Was simple and basic but had everything that was needed and the price was right. The spa is excellent - looking over Queenstown, in the autumm with the leaves turning, and the lights coming on the city; unforgettable!! Service was very friendly and excellent too. Would recommend as a backpackers :)

It's cheap, in walking distance to the shops & pubs, it has beds, kitchens, bathrooms and a spa. What more could you want! I stayed at Pinewoods August last year and have already booked again for August this year. Now that I've been there once, I will never go anywhere else again. Very impressed.

It's exactly what you expect a hostel/backpackers lodge is. We (group of 5) shared a 6 bed dorm, 3 bunk beds (WITH NO LADDERS), which was part of a small building with 2 other rooms and an attached kitchen and lounge/diner to share.
