Hereweka Garden Retreat was our fourth stop on the South Island during our trip around New Zealand. It is set in the most stunning location on the Otago Peninsula. It is also in a great location for visiting the various attractions on the Peninsula. During our stay, we were lucky enough to see a wonderful array of wildlife. This included;... More

The cottage is very spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean. Perfect place to relax and enjoy, even if the weather is not on your side! The hosts are perfect and we really appreciated the attention to details they have, including the delicious home made bread they provide, preserves and jams as well as the organic muesli. We stayed for (only) 2... More

We stayed at Hereweka Garden Retreat for several days of 'relaxation therapy', and it was the perfect destination for this - quiet, self-contained accommodation in a beautiful location on the Otago Peninsula. As mentioned in other reviews the Retreat is very well appointed, with a comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, and wonderful bathroom (with great views!). Peter and Anna are... More

We absolutely enjoyed our stay with Peter and Anna and we highly recommend the place! In general my girlfriend and myself we travel quite a bit and we have seen many places the last couple of years. We never came across a place like Anna and Peter created. To keep it short but sweet: If you like: - nature, -... More

We loved our time at Hereweka Garden Retreat! The cottage is spacious and wonderfully laid out (especially the decks and shower!). The location and view are truly beautiful, and we loved waking up and spending time there in the mornings especially. It's an ideal location for getting a bit off the beaten track and exploring the Otago Peninsula too. There... More

We arrive in Dunedin and have lunch at Nova Café, a museum restaurant. Then we drive along the Portobello Road, a winding coast road that is bit dangerous to drive along due to missing barriers. Cars are regularly fished out of the water here. At the end of that road we turn right. Anyone with lowered suspension on their car... More

We stayed at Hereweka for one night while driving the Southern Scenic Route, and it was truly a wonderful way to end our trip to New Zealand. The property itself is just gorgeous, and the cottage is beautifully designed and very welcoming. We made ourselves right at home! We loved the breakfast hamper and took our time relaxing in the... This place is heaven on earth! We stayed for (unfortunately only) two nights over New Years Eve. The cottage is quite new and located in a beautiful setting overlooking Hooper's Inlet on the Otago Peninsula. The cottage has a deck, which is perfect for breakfast (home made bread and jam, fresh organic milk and eggs). The deck can also be... More
