I have stayed at the Academy many times in the past 12 years while visiting/lecturing at Uni. Very convenient to campus. Good cooking facilities, good bed, large round table in lounge. Free laundry a nice plus. A little dated, but very comfortable & quiet. Easy run to airport or Riccarton Mall. Often booked up well ahead so plan accordingly. Exceptionally... More

Always consistantly great service here, whether I book a studio unit for 1 night or family unit for a week. More

We were booked in a hotel in the central Christchurch area which was a no go area. We stayed for one night here and found it an acceptable place in a quite location. Rooms are a bit dated and with a very shall bathroom. Very helpful frontdesk staff. It has an acceptable restaurant as well which was also very convenient... More

We stayed here 3 nights in a one-bedroom unit. We found this very agreeable, indeed. It had a spacious lounge/dining area, a separate, good-sized, bedroom, a well-equipped kitchenette, a shower room and toilet. It was on their upper (of 2) level, furthest in from the road, so no noise problems. Those closer to Creyke Road may find it noisier. The... More

This was recommended by the University of Canterbury staff who were running the 5 day block course I attended with two other colleagues. Staff friendly enough but if you are arriving late make sure you call ahead, the office generally closes at 9.30pm I was told. Our flight was delayed and late arriving and luckily I did ring ahead and... More

I've only stayed here once, and get the feeling I ended up in the worst room in the place; the others might be better. My 'studio', a dark space with a tiny window, fronting on to a main road with all the traffic noise, was not particularly nice. Its only access is through the motel's restaurant, which means you can... More

This place has a neat combination of typical motel rooms and small apartments with full kitchens. There is also a fully-licensed restaurant on the premises that serves breakfast and dinner (we're never around for lunch, or have it on our own in our room's dining area). Staff will bring meals to your room if you prefer not to go to... More
