There was no accommodation available in Christchurch during our visit so we decided to venture into Sumner (on the recommendation of an Australian guy we met in Akaroa). The town itself is very nice and there are great views at the seafront. The hotel room was spacious, clean and had kitchen facilities, hair dryer and TV. Ample car parking facilities.... More

Extremely supportive manager and cleaning staff. The rooms get serviced daily. The motel has a great restaurant beside it. Thought it is 5 minutes walk to the beautiful, fine sandy beach, the motel is very quiet, especially night time. Parking right outside the building. City buses to city central in 30 minutes with one bus that costs $3.20, very friendly... More

Apartments as described (they looked like the photos!) in a good location in Sumner, very near to the beach and bars etc., but nice and quiet at night. Manager couldn't do more to be of help. Apartments were cleaned and tidied daily. Really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at the Sumner Bay Motel at the beginning of our stay on the South Island of New Zealand and our last night. A comfortable, classy motel with nice décor. Good location with an easy walk to the beach, supermarket and coffee shops. The area is experiencing a bit of “urban renewal”, so there are a lot of construction... More

We stayed a few nights while visiting friends nearby (whose spare room is filled with earthquake "refugees") - this seems to be the place everyone recommends to friends and family, as we bumped into several others in the same situation. The rooms are really nice, with a standard I would expect at twice the price, and the location is perfect... More

We enjoyed our 1 night stay here. When we arrived they had upgraded us from a studio unit to a 1 bedroom apartment. The hotel is in a perfect location next to shops, and restaurants and only 1 block from the beach. The hotel feels like a small boutique hotel. It is very quiet here and the place the exterior... Lovely motel in Sumner with a small restaurant attached to the front of it and bar if you need it. But there's no noise from the restaurant/bar. Nice and modern with good decor and facilities. The bed was great. We had two studio rooms as we had our two teenage girls with us. We couldn't get a 2 bed unit... More

Stayed here a few years back and returned for a couple of nights on our NZ trip this December. It's a really well designed motel, with great units - good cooking facilities, bathroom and balcony, very good-looking apartments and a feel of luxury. Great location, just minutes walk from the beach. Worth pointing out, so no one gets disappointed on... More

We used 2 rooms recently. The beds were just horrible. Uncomfortable and serious roll together. Both parties discussed each morning the lack of sleep and the condition of the beds which made for a disappointing stay.

We stayed for 4 nights at this motel. Due to a family bereavement we were booking one day and arriving the next. We needed accommodation for 2x adults and 2x children, which is not simple in Christchurch as unfortunately a lot of accommodation is either non existent any more or being used by the workforce brought in to rebuild the...
