The twin room we stayed was very comfortable and spacious. Free BBQ on Wed night which is awesome. However the wifi service was awfully slow during my stay. Think it was under some sort of problems. Only 20MB/booking for free, which is like nothing. Maybe 20MB per night would be more reasonable. Overall, it was a good stay still recommended.

We stayed the first night in a private double room at Around the World Backpackers and we were welcomed by the friendly staff. The kitchen appeared to be well equipped and the room was comfortable. The added bonus was the 20mb of Internet included (most other hostels in nz charged extra for Internet usage)

We spent four nights here and couldn't really fault it. It's clean and the kitchen was tidy, fairly large and well equipped. The Around the World Backpackers is a fantastic backpacker in Christchurch. It is super clean, offers a good kitchen with free coffee and tea. It's quite small so everything feels very familiar and the owners/managers are super friendly and helpful. It's an easy 15 min walk from the center. So go for it!!

In all honesty we'd tried to book back into the Jailhouse and ended up here as it was full. This isn't a second choice hostel mind!! We (a couple) stayed there for 4 nights. Hostel ist clean and the kitchen is big enough and well equipped. Nice backyard with possibilities to eat and sit. The citycentre is in walking distance. Part of the staff is not that friendly and well informed about the area. Laundry is available but only cold wash.
