This was our first hostel in New Zealand and it was lovely. Clean throughout the hostel, friendly staff, big kitchen, comfy beds and decent floor space in dorm rooms, powerful and large showers, lovely homemade bread for breakfast. We only stayed one night and was jet lagged from our flight from Santiago so weren’t in a very sociable mood, but there seemed to be a good vibe and decent communal areas. Staff provide very helpful info and are chatty and friendly

I enjoyed my time at Kiwi Base camp in Christchurch & would stay here again! The room I was in was bright, airy and reasonably clean. The staff were also quite friendly. It would've been nice if the kitchens were a little cleaner (although that was probably more to do with the guests than the staff!) & had more tea towels in them! Also, some more fridge space would've been great. All that aside, my stay was lovely & the fresh bread in the morning was really great! 😊

The room is located next to a very busy road! Sleeping impossible... The stuff was friendly. I can not comment on social life, kitchen, hang out area etc. Because I just stayed for 9 hours (one night) Also Christchurch is not a place you need to go in general

Hi There, Thank you for taking the time to review us, We are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay in Christchurch, There are some amazing things to do while you are here, but it sounds like you may have arrived later in the evening and left earlier in the day, there is the beautiful Botanical Gardens as well as the Canterbury Museum, the Art Centre and Art Gallery, as well as things to see and do in the centre itself, we are also located not far from some beautiful beaches as well as some fantastic walks at the port hills, It's good to hear that the staff were friendly they are also very approachable and if you had let us know about the noise then we may have been able to find an alternative room, We have some great communal areas to hang out in as well as 2 kitchens and a fantastic garden area, If you are in Christchurch again we would love to take the time to show you around and hopefully change your mind, Wishing you all the best on your travels, Kind regards, Laura and the Kiwi Basecamp Team.

I found the Kiwi Backpacker continues to meet all my backpacker needs. I liked having access to the two complete and separate kitchens on separate floors. User friendly! Conveniently located to the train station and to buses from and to the Central Business District. Friendly staff and travelers. Safe. Relaxed. Nice aroma from the German bread baking every morning. Yumyum, too:^)

Hi There, We are thrilled to hear that you have had another amazing time staying with us, It is nice having the 2 kitchens on different floors, the downstairs a little busier as next to the lounge dinning area and the one upstairs a little smaller but with a breakfast bar to sit at and relax. Our location is just perfect we think, just a hop skip and jump from the beautiful Hagley Park, and we are close to a bus stop where all the major lines pass by as well as great cafes, bars and Restaurants, There is nothing nicer than waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread, such a wonderful way to start the day, See you next time your coming to Christchurch, Kind regards, Laura and The Team at Kiwi Basecamp

Good value for money, but I had trouble sleeping in Room 10 next to Bealey Avenue on a Saturday night due to rowdy boy-racers and sirens (double-glazing might fix this problem). Liked the home-made bread smell in the morning and the floury footprints on the carpet near kitchen door...

Hi There, Thanks for taking the time to review us, We are sorry to hear that the noise from the cars kept you awake and take onboard the comments about the double glazing, however the council are doing there best to combat the problem, The bread is amazing to wake up to in the morning and super tasty, haha the footprints are not always there but make for a good path to the deliciousness, Enjoy the rest of your trip, Laura

My partner and I stayed here for a week and had a great time! Firstly, everyone who works and stayed here are incredibly friendly and willing to give helpful advice. The hostel is as sociable as you want it to be, the lounge was a great place to meet others, share stories and play cards in the evenings. There is free homemade bread every morning and free pasta casserole every evening too! Rooms and bathrooms are clean and there's ample space to chill out. It's easy to get to town, the botanical gardens, bus stops and the grocery store. Cheers Kiwi Basecamp!

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to stay here! Kiwi Basecamp backpackers will always stay in my heart. It's very close to town and the fresh bread in the morning gives you the opportunity to start the day with a smile. The pictures in here are not up to date, the whole hostel has been renovated and gets cleaned everyday by 6 wwooffers. The wifi is free and fast and all common areas are friendly designed and welcoming. You find friends for life in here. Thank you so much Laura and Chris. You're the best, I can only recommend to everyone to pop in for a couple of nights. All the best xxxxx

Kiwibase camp: Cancelling on the morning of my stay due to overbooking is simply not good enough. Was exceptionally frustrating, so very easily avoidable and simply should not happen. Will not be back.

Hi There, We are very sorry that you could not stay with us at Kiwi Basecamp and for the short notice of the cancellation, it is not our attention to make booking with us frustrating and we almost can always guarantee you staying with us, when you booked a guest also extended there stay and in the small amount of time it took you to book we had just filled the space, when I noticed the error I contacted you immediately via text as well as a phone call. I do believe thought that you were offered a 4 bed share as this is what we had available when we spoke on the phone, we also did say that we would find alternative accommodation for you in another Backpackers, at the same price and a single room, It is unfortunate that over bookings happen but we do always try to help our guests out as much as we possibly can. I am sorry to hear that you will not book to stay with us even when there was discount given for the next time you stayed, If you were to think about staying in Christchurch in the future we would love for you to see what we have to offer, Kind regards, Laura and The Kiwi Basecamp Team.
